Mini DVD disc wont play files on my PC DVD drive or on my two DVD players in the house. Why is this? I can playback the recorded file on the camera itself.

Hi,

You need the correct Drivers installed on your PC.

Either download them or install them from the CD which comes with the camera.

Once installed - try again.

Have you tried this on another PC or Laptop?

Thanks.

You need a "codec", they are the different formats that allow different formats to be played on different sources.Go here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_Mega_codec_pack.htm
Download the codec pak light, and run it, it will allow your movie to play on your computer, Sony uses proprietary software to play their disks, and they don't want you to play their movies or recordings in anything but their equiptment, that is why you are having the problem.

It's a different format, that's why if you try the codec pack and it plays, you will know that the format is different, You can always remove it from add/remove programs if you choose to do so. This is quite common with companys like Sony, they are in the business of making movies, and don't want to have people view them unles they "rent" them. It's all about money

The reason why your DVD player will not play those discs is because the format in which the videos are captured by the camera are not compatible with the DVD player.
Video files are digitally encoded and compressed to save space. Since there are many different formats to do this, such as AVI, MPG, WMV, MOV, and more, the only device that can usually play all of them is a computer.
Canon digital cameras normally use the AVI format to compress video, which is not compatible with just about all home theater components. This is because the DVD player does not have the proper decoder to uncompress the file. It's like talking to someone in Japanese if they only speak French.
However, not all hope is lost. The AVI files can be reformatted into something that your DVD player can play. The SC-HT870 is compatible with both S-VCD and Video CD formats. This means that the DVD player is capable of playing back certain kinds of MPG files.
There are many tools available for your computer to convert one video file to another. If you use Windows, do a search for TMPGEnc on your preferred search engine. This is a free tool that allows you to convert AVI files to VCD style MPG files for both the US and European formats. Then using CD writing software like NERO, you can create a CD that your DVD player can understand. If you're not a fan of these programs, there are many other options you could try by hunting around. If you're a Mac user, iMovie should be able to do everything you need.
Have fun watching those video files!

Download any of the video converter.Change the format of the music file using the converter.Burn the Cd or Dvd, it would work.

Simple reason - The extension of the video in digital camera's is different than the DVD. You need special softwares to convert them into DVD compatible.

    Thanks.

Ohk, if you want to check the format, do one thing, put the recorded DVD in computer. Go to DVD drive. Click on that, You would be able to access folder. Right click on the file, you would be able to look at the properties .

    Hope that would help you.

    Thanks.

Sir, there is no further solution than to change the format.

Lets take an example, have you ever seen a DVD being Played on CD player, No- reason- Difference in video/Audio formats.

Same here - Atleast try to download the software, change the format and you would be able to run it in DVD player. When you can play the CD in computer and Not in DVD player, shows that the DVD is fine.

There is no issue with your DVD as well, you can play DVD's as well.

So there is no need of any troubleshooting.

Simple solution - Change the format.

    Rest on your's .

    Take Care.

Sir, there can't be any more solutions. We all know its due to file extensions.

Now the last and the best advise, if you are not sure regarding extensions, call local computer expert to change extension for you.

    take care.

SONY HANDYCAM DCR-DVD105 ERROR MSG C:13:02

Try to use a cotton swap to 1st clean the recording lens or blow gently on it. Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.
