Question about Western Digital Computers & Internet

Open Question

Picture flickering I have a Samsung L19WA monitor which is about 4 yrs old. After it has been on for a couple of hours i get this buzzing noise coming from the monitor & faint lickering lines going up & down the scree. Initially i can stop this by going through the picture mode options i.e txt economy & back to picture mode but after a while this doesn't stop it anymore. Can anyone help?

You need someone to open the cover on the compressor and examine or replace the start relay, start capacitor and motor windings. One of those 3 are not working properly. Is the model number you gave made for and sold in the UK? Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Green light flickering & Sunset red screen display.

You've got components that have gone bad, probably from age and the normal heat inside a CRT monitor case.

I hate to say it, but it's really not worth fixing. You can usually find a used but working 17" monitor for under 20 bucks.

My monitor comes on briefly then the picture flickers and disappears. There is a high pitch buzzing noise as this happens, it then seems to go completely dead after just a couple of seconds.

Worst case will be the arcing in the lamp assemblies.
See pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Samsung%20920NW/

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Hi, I have a V7 L19WA - 19" widescreen monitor.

The fact that you can see a faint picture indicates that the monitor is working but the backlight circuit has a problem. The typical failures are blown transistors or bad capacitors. This can be troubleshot if you know how to unsolder and check the components with a meter. Don't know how technical you are, but if you are not, you could take to to an electronic repair service to fix. Hope this helps you.
