In most cases, the easiest ways to return a computer to the original factory settings is to perform what is often referred to as a "destructive restore."
When you perform a destructive restore, you essentially erase all of the content on your computer's hard drive and install a new copy of your operating system (O/S). Many computer users should be able to do this by using a utility located on their system recovery disc provided to them by the manufacturer, but please keep in mind that the process may vary slightly from model to model. Additionally, this process can often be accomplished using an installation disk for full versions of Windows - upgrade versions may not necessarily have this feature.
Most of these discs are primarily intended to be used a start-up tools, and must be in your optical drive when you first turn your computer on. Generally, there will be an option that says "Menu" or gives you the choice between starting your computer from a hard drive or removable disc. If you select the option to boot from the removable disc, you should be given a number of alternatives from there that may include selections such as "O/S Repair" or "Format and Install O/S." Step-by-step instructions should appear on your screen regardless of which option you choose, but remember that the length of time it takes to complete this process may greatly depend on your computer's overall performance (size of hard drive, processor speed, amount of memory, etc.).
If you're still not sure how to proceed, I would strongly suggest speaking with a computer repair technician for further assistance.
Hope this helps you out.
