How about the settings did you tried with other settings like the 4:3 in the aspect ratio. if can not resolved with other settings then it could be a malfunctioned in the horizontal section. check for a bulged or leak capacitor in the horizontal section in the main board.

I got multiple thin colors on the middle of the screen

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display issue (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

Further info, pics, comments, and updates on my Facebook page at

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further updates will be on my Facebook page.

The tv seems really dark.57in theatrewide hd toshiba

Go into the tv menu and select the Preferences menu and set your picutre preference from Theater to Normal. The TV is currently in Theater mode, wich is for viewing with no lights on in the room. Switching it to normal lightens the pictue a lot.

Toshiba Satellite P105-S6124 Screen lines

Are these lines on the screen during the whole boot process? If so then the screen cpu and/or the video cpu has gone bad. Connect an external monitor. If the picture is clear, no lines, then the problem is the LCD screen. If the lines appear on the external monitor during the boot process then the mother board will need replacement.

Good Luck

Tv repair

I have discovered that applying light pressure on the video card with a plastic shim corrects a card solder problem with these TVs. (Removing the back is required) In these cases you should be able to see a picture by shining a bright light right next to the screen front. This goes for many screen shutoff problems on flat panel monitors and laptops. Do not put the light there for very long or you will end up with a permanent bright spot burt onto the screen.

Broken screen

all you can do is chase a used
Toshiba (Theater Wide HD) Model NO.20HLV86

or buy a replacement TV

was it covered under contents damage insurance ?

this TV has been discontinued
the design of this screen means its put together
layer by layer .sandwiched ..not just a glass cover

a screen replace can't be done
unless the Toshiba company "TV parts division " has the exact same screen to supply to your local TV repair man

Even finding circuitry boards to be supplied for that model have a slim chance
