It has to do with the type of input - Video2 and 3 are Component video inputs, requiring a 3- wire component video cable (Red,blue, green for video, red/white below for audio). Video 1 is for analog equipment (Yellow for the video, red and white for the audio). Unless your Wii comes with a component video out cable and jacks (same red blue green), you'll have to use video 1 for the Wii, and use Video 2 for the dvd. You'll need a component video (3-wire) cable for your dvd, which should have the jacks for it. You can use the present cable you're using for the dvd, but you'll have to change the connections on the back of the dvd to component video out, and you'll still need another 2-wire cable to connect the audio out on the dvd to the audio in on Video 2 on the tv.

Here's the manual for your tv - look on page 8 for these connections. the Wii will be an analog connnection, the dvd will be a digital connection.

There are no connections for the red whits and yellow AV cable in the new smart TV can i eliminate this cable and use a USB cable in its place this is for a wii

The usb port in Wii is for input devices (i.e. external HDD, Wii keyboard etc.) and can't use it to output signal going to your TV , its only the AV cable supplied by wii you can use to connect to tv. If the TV has no RCA input (yellow, white & red connections) you can buy AV to HDMI adaptor or AV to VGA adaptor to connect your wii to your new tv model.

When we turn to the tv to "av" we usually get signal for WII, but now it says "no signal"

Make sure your video connections are correct and make sure any external video selectors are set to the correct input. If the wii is connected directly to the AV input in the TV then check your resolution settings on the TV if possible. Try a known good wii audio/video cable to see if it has gone bad. If it still doesn't work after that then the audio video port on the back of the wii may have gone bad or the wii motherboard may have gone bad.

Blank TV screen

Although very rare with Wiis, you could have a GPU problem or bad connectivity with your AV port. Could be poor solder joint etc.

Nintendo wii wont work with older model of Sanyo TV

how are you connecting the wii to the tv...through the rca jacks?  If so, you can not get to the input channels by the channel button.  On the remote there will be a button called either AV, Input, AV Video, Video, A/V, Input or something similar.  Hit this button until your tv goes to the appropriate av channel.

Wii has no color

Are you connecting you Wii to a progressive scan TV input (2 for audio (red)(white), 3 for video (yellow)(blue)(red)?

It's possible you have the red audio and red video inputs switched.

If you have the regular AV-Cable (2 for audio (red)(white), 1 for video (yellow)), and your TV has 5 inputs (progressive), look for the 3 inputs (2 for audio (red)(white), 1 for video (yellow). If it doesn't, connect it to a VCR and run the Wii through the VCR input.

Wii

You tv needs to have av plugs. Yellow for video in Red and White for Audio in. These need to be in the "in" ports. then you can turn to the right av channed it should be before channel 2 so just keep going down. If your tv has more than one set of av in ports there will be more than one av channel below channel two.

PS3 no longer communicating with TV

All: Try this -

P
erform the following steps to reset the Video Output Settings.
  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the [HDMI OUT] port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI Input] port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn ON the PLAYSTATION 3 and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor). [If resetting does not auto-detect your HDTV, see next step below.]
NOTE: As of system software update version 1.60, the PLAYSTATION 3can automatically detect an HDMI connection to a TV. If the PLAYSTATION 3 is turned on with an HDMI cable connected, the screen for switching video output settings will be displayed automatically. (Does not function unless the TV that is connected by the HDMI cable is turned on.)

As of version 1.80 of the system update for the PLAYSTATION 3, the PLAYSTATION 3 can upscale the video content of PlayStation® format software, PlayStation®2 format software, and DVDs to HD resolution.

If Resetting the Video Output Setting Did NOT Detect Your HDTV Automatically (Certain TV's Only)
With certain televisions, the PLAYSTATION 3 may not automatically detect the HDMI source (TV) which it is plugged into, even after resetting the Video Output Setting (as described above).

If resetting the Video Output Setting did not work, you may need to follow these steps to manually locate the HDMI source:

1. Connect both the AV Cable and the HDMI cable from the PLAYSTATION 3 to the corresponding (AV and HDMI) ports on your TV. 2. Proceed with resetting the Video Output Setting on the PLAYSTATION 3 again. (Follow these steps, then continue to step 3 below.)
3. Turn the TV channel to the corresponding "Input" or "Video" channel for the AV Cable connection.
4. Manually change the Video Output Settings to HDMI. (Follow these steps, then continue to step 5 below.)
5. Now switch the "Input" or "Video" channel on the TV for the HDMI port the PLAYSTATION 3 is currently plugged into.
6. Accept the display settings for HDMI before the timer runs out (30 seconds). Highlight "Yes" and press the X button.
7. You can now disconnect AV Cable from the PLAYSTATION 3 and the TV, as it is no longer needed.
