    HP driver download link

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...

after you install the driver for sound card

download and install also the driver for modem (motorola)

verify also you windows update after you install this driver...there might be a hardware update in vista (like digital signature)

    read this link:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...

HP and Microsoft are working to provide
updated drivers for Windows Vista Service Pack 1. Users who used the
Windows Update function to check the computer for all the required
drivers, before upgrading to SP1, have reported very few problems.
However, there are known performance issues with the following
components if the drivers are not updated.

    • Option 1
: Run the Windows Update to detect the following known issues and attempt to install updated drivers.

      Component

Driver Versions That Must be Updated

      Conexant HD Audio

      Chdart.sys – version 4.32.0.0 or earlier

      Chdrt32.sys – version 4.32.0.0 or earlier

      AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor

      Atswpdrv.sys – version 7.7.1.7 or earlier

Intel Display (Intel 965 Express Chipset)

Igdkmd32.sys – versions between and including driver 7.14.10.1322 and 7.14.10.1403

Igdkmd64.sys – versions between and including driver 7.14.10.1322 and 7.14.10.1403

      SigmaTel ATI Audio

      Stwrt.sys – version 6.10.5511.0 or earlier

      Stwrt64.sys – version 6.10.5511.0 or earlier

    • Option 2
: Run the HP Update and HP Health Check utilities to locate updated HP drivers.

    • Option 3
: Manually locate updated drivers. Go to the HP

      Software & Driver Downloads

      page, type the
      Product number
      for your PC, select
      Vista operating system
, and check for updated drivers.

you need the OEM disk from ibm to put vista back on.

best thing to do is keep 7 in the laptop, but you need internet access on the laptop get a usb wire/wireless card for the laptop and let windows update find the drivers and fix it.

If you bought a full retail version and not an upgrade, you may need to do a fresh installation of windows. You also need to make certain that your gateway model is able to upgrade to windows 7. Checking your computer's support page, there are no BIOS updates available. Your computer should be fully capable of upgrading to windows 7 from windows Vista. ALso looking at Gateway's support page for this model, there are no drivers offered for Windows 7. All drivers offered are for windows Vista. I have seen computers in the past that will not tolerate an operating system change from the system that was installed at the factory.

If you have a restore partition, you can back up your data, and do a clean install of windows after formatting your hard drive. You may also want to make recovery disks for your computer in case the Win 7 will take on your computer or you cannot get your hardware to work with Win 7 since Gateway offers no Win 7 drivers.
Good luck. Take precautions to back up data and be able to revert to your original factory settings if necessary.

* It is not necessary to back up ur data. U can simply run the Windows 7 upgrade, it will not delete ur files and folders. It will only replace the windows and system files.

** If u want to back up ur data then simply copy ur all data to another partition except C drive (System Drive) and then install a fresh copy of windows 7 and by format only c partition.

*** If there is only a single partition, then simply copy all your necessary data to CD/DVD aur pen drive aur any external hard drive and install a fresh copy.

**** U can also use Partition Magic to make two partition by cutting some space from C drive in case of only one partition.

My Acer Webcam Is Gone Ever Since I Installed Windows 7!?

As with all laptops parts are sourced from different manufacturers. Laptops had to be certified for WIN 7. Some ACERs laptop models are, but if the model wasnt certified for the WIN 7 platform they would not have developed a driver for your model. After checking ACER did NOT certify this unit as Windows 7 Compatibile due to driver incompatibilities. You can either downgrade to Windows Vista.. which will require a full reformat of drive (WIN 7 doesnt just uninstall) and reinstall from fresh VISTA.. so be sure and save your data. Or you can determine who makes the webcam in teh notebook and see if the manufacturer has a direct driver..OR FINALLY.. you could load the Vista driver and then go into the webcam software you use and right click and say run in "Windows vista" or "Windows XP" compatible mode. Be sure and keep looking at ACER to see if they state your system can go to Win 7 at a later date as sometime manufacturers will make drivers available which could change its status.

I would get a different hard drive. Hard drives can be very tricky sometimes. I had that problem with My D600. replaced the hard drive and everything was okay. Hope that helps.

Win vista

If your equipment is new and has the original operating system installed of factory it does not need activation, only that you have tried to update your operating system to another version of windows vista, in this case you must reinstall the operating system from the secret partition Invoking it with F11 or with Thinkadvantage's button (blue button) in the top part of your keyboard and of this form you leave the equipment as when to extract of the box the first time.
