The brushes on my Dyson V6 sweeper attachment won't turn although it is fully charged.

Your battery may indicate fully charged but if dead it will do that and not work for squat. If charged the motor should run and turn the sweeper with power. If motor runs but sweeper does not check for a stretched belt or one that may have fallen off the pulley.

How to change belt on a dyson dc 28

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC28 has a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. It's part of the high-torque clutch mechanism and isn't user-replaceable. However the belt is protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it, so it's unlikely the belt will need replacing.

If the brush bar isn't rotating when your machine is turned on and reclined into the vacuuming position, it may just need resetting. To do this, please follow the steps shown in our Support video:

If you need further help or advice after you've given this a try, please contact our experts a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA). If a repair is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your free 5-year Dyson warranty.

Just purchased a reconditioned model. Makes a ton of noise and the bottom brush doesn't seem to turn like in my old Oreck. Does that indicate it needs a new belt?

Your Dyson does have a belt but its one that cant be replaced it is called a clutch assy. if your roller brush isnt spinning then it could be that you dont have the purple knob on the left hand side if your facing the vacuum to the carpet setting. if you do have it on the carpet setting and its still not spinning then your clutch need to be replaced.
dyson roller brushes donot rotate as fast as Oreck roller brushes. in fact they are rotate at about half the speed. so keep that in mind.

I need to change my sweeper belt on my Dyson 14 Animal

When turned on and set to sweep the sweeper makes a loud noise like it has something stuck in it but the brush is turning abut not does not have a lot of sucking power. It started the other day when a blanket with tassels got caught and wund up in the brush and sucked up in the sweeper a bit. Tried to pull out while running and came out but made the loud noise. If I take off the brush then it does not make the noise when on. I think it might be the belt grooves are worn and slipping when the sweeper is in the sweeping on mode. Sorry, do not know the technical sweeper terms.

How do I replace the belts on a Dyson DC04 purple

That model has a clutch unit from which the two drive belts are located. It is a technical job to strip that unit down to change the belts, so the easier solution if you have a snapped belt, is to replace the clutch unit (that comes with belts on it). A recycled one represents better value for money, and you can get one here: Dyson DC04 clutch unit.

Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some very useful info on dismantling and repairing Dysons.

Although this site doesnt actually cover the DC14 yet, the DC14 is very similar to the DC07 so as regards dissassembling the machine, and replacing the clutch, my experience is that the DC07 info will enable you to do the job.

Sounds like you have two separate problems here.  If the brush bar does not rotate, probably the belt is broken. This is easily replaced, but you need to be precise about which model you've got so you get the right belt.
Loss of suction is due either to a blockage or, quite often, to a split in the short length of clear plastic hose that leads back from the brush bar enclosure.  Repair is possible but replacement is better.

Clutch Issue

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The clutch repair is not a simple task, but if you watch the video below closely, you can certainly get through it. You'll need to purchase a clutch system (it's best to stay with the genuine Dyson clutch, the generic clutch made is not as good) if you haven't already. You may purchase the clutch mechanism here; Dyson DC-07 Clutch Assembly for Early Models if you don't currently have one.

Here's a great video that walks you through step by step on how to replace the clutch on your Dyson. If you found this repair solution helpful, please be sure to rate the repair as helpful by clicking the 4 Thumbs Up Icons in the top right hand corner of this Repair.
