Here is the download page from IBM support. All the drivers you need for your PC. Reinstall Windows if that's what you plan on doing then you can save those drivers onto a USB thumb drive or burn them to a cd. Install on the PC and reboot and thats it.

If I understand you correctly, you need drivers before you reload this laptop?

If this is the case, then you will need a USB flash drive large enough to hold all of your drivers and driver software (a 2GB thumbdrive should do just fine) and go to this link from another computer:

all you have to do is select your model and all of the drivers you will need will be listed for whichever OS you decide to load.

Let me know if that helps.

Here's a list of other things you will need if you don't already have them:

Windows Installation Disk (XP HOME/PRO or VISTA). Your laptop should have a COA from mircosoft on the bottom of the unit, just use that code and the version of windows it references.

Flash drive with all of your drivers that you downloaded.

Another USB flash drive, one that will be large enough to hold anything you wish to backup. Another poster mentioned that and it is a good idea to do that before blowing a laptop or desktop away.

My Laptop IBM-R 50 motherboard is not working. No display and no sound. If you make is on and off 25-30 times, it gets on and starts upto desktop and handing forever. Purchased in 4/2003. It is purchased...

Just reinstall your windows XP on your IBM R50. Also format your Hard Disk but please remember to back-up your Data first. Use windows XP SP2 CD to do all this and if you don't have the serial Key, use this; RHKG3-8YW4W-83M4Y-4RHJG-7X9GW.
After that, download all the drivers from this Link and install them. Click here below:

I have an old IBM thinkpad that needs reprogramming..

You can use any Operating System disk (such as Linux, Windows, etc) to reload your laptop. The trick is you have to go to the IBM website ( and download the drivers for your system after loading the Operating System. For your laptop, it appears the ibm website is having an issue listing the drivers, but they just updated it last week so it should be up soon. I am sure if you look around the web you can find the important drivers like video, audio, and network card drivers and then by running windows update you should be able to find a bunch more. If you have an idea what Operating System you would like to use I can offer more specific support.

Good Luck,

Ibm thinkpad r40 windows xp-pro after formatting and re-installing the system, all updates and SPs downloaded and installed, the wireless "disappeared"! the radio led wouldn't lit, in the connection list...

if drivers installed device is looking for wifi manager which is the software package for wifi.
you can goto control panel open administrative tools select sevices and scroll to wireless zero config and press start.
this will then use windows settings.done

Go to Asus website.Find product support and/or downloads and put in your model number or serial number and then get only the drivers for XP.If it has a chipset driver among them be sure to install it first in order for all the other drivers to work properly and without problems.
