Testimonial: "I've got all the breakdowns which are really nothing more than a pictorial parts list. I don't want to take EVERYTHING apart to get to the motor. I replaced at least 4 of the old style motors ( Grainger's )but these weren't puzzles."

I have the Hoover U6485900 and the brush rollers keep spinning even when the vacuum is in the upright position. I have replaced both belts hoping that would fix it. Help!

depending on your exact model this is supposed to happen even when it is up right since the vac motor does two things besides just sucking up dirt but in order to prove that i would need some photos (photobucket links or any other imaging online service is welcome to be used to see the exact model vac it is) now if it has like a two stage mode switch in this model it could be that the two stage switch is a lil bad but i have seen where people have done mini mods to save cash and sort of make their own sorta two stage switch with two switches and a bypass to just run the main motor for sucking up dirt

How do i replace the on off switch on Hoover U6485900

Make sure the power cord is disconnected! There are two sets of three screws one needs to remove. The first set hold the handle assembly to the sweeper body (there are two near the back of assembly and one in front). The second set is inside the cavity that hold the vacuum powered cleaning tool. There are two at the bottom of the cavity and one at the top. Refer to the Assembly Instructions in the Owner's Manual for help. One can then remove the power leads from the on/off switch, push the switch out, and insert a replacement switch. Pay attention to the color of the wires because some switches apparently work with models having 2 black wires (H-28161075), others with a black and yellow wire (H-28161074), and others with connectors to the wires. Reassemble the sweeper reversing the dis-assembly process outlined above.

The hose will no longer suction on my hoover u6485900. The vacuum doesn't seem to be sucking when it's upright either.

First take the hose of the vacume and make sure you are getting suction where the hose attaches to the machine. If you are then there is a clog in the hose. Try to shake the hose to hear if something is stuck in there or take the brush off the hose and look in the hose for obstruction.

Motor for self proppel and beater does not work .how to replace

If the motor is bad, you are better off getting a new vacuum. If you really want to repair this, go to www.hover.com and order a motor. There are other places that may offer the motor ... www.repairclinic.com is one. You might find a replacement motor at the vacuun repair center in your home town or the appliance parts place. Don't forget to review the ads around this answer ... These advertisers pay the bills for FixYa.com, BTW.

Good luck with your project.

Hoover wind tunnel vacuum cleaner shuts off during use

Check the inlet down by the brush roll to make sure it isn't clogged. If not and the hose isn't clogged, then probably the thermo protector (part #28382093) maybe bad. It is mounted near the motor. Could be motor Part #43576188. But I would suspect a clog in the inlet or hose, or the thermo protector has gone bad.
