Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-50WE655 50" Rear Projection HDTV

Open Question

Sony Grand Wega 50" loses channel programming after turning off

We have a 50" Sony Grand Wega that is about 5 years old. Recently, the lamp needed to be replaced. After replacing the lamp, the TV now loses all the channels in its memory every time it is turned off for more than a few minutes, and needs to be reprogrammed. For example, if we are watching channel 5, then we turn off the TV and go to bed, the next morning the only channel the TV will get is channel 5, until we run the channel program function again. We are not using a cable box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

12000 hours you are lucky most last 2000 hours
lamp not the usual suspect for this
confirm black and white on all inputs and it will be more sinister, if only one input, it could be the signal source

This model also has a paper filter for the Optic block that should be changed. No one ever said anything about it. shortens the life of the optic block if not changed.

hello

  1. Press "Display" on the remote, followed by the 5 button, then the sound up key, and "Power On." Do this while the TV is in Standby mode.
  2. Step 2 Then press "Jump" 3 times to enter the DE Service menu. The TV screen will display the total lamp time hours.
  3. Step 3 Reset the lamp time by pressing channel 3, then mute, then enter. This will put your lamp counter back to 0.good luck

SOURCE: I have a 50' Sony Grand Wega red bar on top of screen

Well this is an LCD projection TV and it sounds like one of the polarizer filter has gotten out of place so you are seeing at the top of your screen the unfiltered image of the LCD panel.
Will need to go into a shop to get repaired. Call and get an estimate of repair. Actually shouldn't be too bad of a repair cost.
Blessings,

Sony KDFE60a20 picture is not bright. We are losing sight of the picture due to it being so dark. Is this the lamp assembly or could it also be something else. TV is 5 years old.

It is lamp that need to be replaced.
Lamp is not generating enough light to present bright picture on tv screen.

Problem for Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655. Hello,

5 times Red LED blinks means Lamp Driver Error. (KDF-55WF655)
2 possible reasons, either Lamp is gone or Ballast Supply got bad.
Replace lamp first, in most cases it solved the problem.
How old is this TV and did you replaced lamp recently?
Thanks.

3 blinks red light is a lamp error, either the lamp switch is dirty or lamp is going, if it does it again reseat the lamp and see if it stops.
