SOURCE: Frigidaire Laundry center blows circuit when w/d run at same time

Okay, here's the best I can do from this distance.

The combo unit is on a 30-amp, 220-volt circuit. One cord supplies both washer and dryer.

The breaker does not trip until the washer motor starts running simultaneous with the dryer drying.

My guess is that (if the combo unit is connected correclty to the one supply cord) the dryer motor runs off the 110 volt supplied by the red/white wires & the washer motor runs off the other 110 volt leg, black/white (could be vice-versa, but that's irrelevant).

The dryer heating element runs off the 220 volt supplied by the red/black wires.

There are two most likely causes (but not the only possibilities):

- The breaker is bad -- could just be oxidation on the breaker contacts in the bteaker box -- I havae seen this conditon -- small amounts of oxidation can cause the breaker to overheat and trip -- of course, the more current the load draws the hotter the breaker gets.

- One of the motors (washer or dryer) is beginnig to fail (windings beginning to short) and drawing more than rated current which is overloading the breaker.

Checking thes two theories requires some not-so-standard equipment, and some more-than-handyman expertise. And if neither of these theories pans out, the troubleshooting gets more complicated.

So, to address your original question, "Can I fix it myself, or should I hire someone?, I would say you should hire someone. This wirite-up may give them a head start.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Charlie

P.S.
A third possibility (only possible if this tripping condition ahs existed from the beginnig of the w/d installation) is that the power cord is connected to the unit such that both motors are powered by the same 110 volt leg. Not being there to assess this, I can't say how likely this is, but it's a long shot for sure.

SOURCE: washer won't start up

You could have a bad timer, but most commonly the problem is a much simpler on. A washer that fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price. If you still need assistance, please contact me and let me know. If my diagnosis is not correct, please post back and elaborate a bit more so I can assist you further. If your washer is not configured this way, or if you still have questions, please let me know.

I would check the lid switch. If switch is faulty, it will allow unit to fill like normal, but won't agitate or spin.

Brand new Frigidaire FFLG2022MWO Washer/Dryer Laundry Center. After a wash cycle is finished, the washer will start again after a few minutes. A truly never ending cycle. Please help.

Good Afternoon Mauricio, thank you for your question! Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. Wait roughly ten minutes and turn on the appliance. Select a normal cycle and verify if the washer continues to run after ending cycle. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, your appliance could be experiencing a communication error with the control board, timer or could have a wiring failure. I would suggest contacting an experienced service technician to determine the precise cause.

Hello handicapper,
Welcome to fixya.

You said, the above unit is new and has no separate power cord for the washer unit. Does the power come from one side of the 240 volt cord that attaches to the dryer connection?? Please advise, thank you.

Yes you are correct.
The on cord services both washer and dryer in your laundry center!
Do you have it running yet!
You should have no problem it comes with installation instructions.

Kenmore 94802 - Goes through all cycles.. Doesn't stop after last spin cycle.

I hate to say it, but it sure sounds like a timer problem. There are contacts inside that move and switch items no matter what setting its in. Its a possibilty that the power contact is stuck closed and when you manually turn it off it breaks contact. The job to replace is really not that hard, remove console (unplug unit first), mark your wires, then just replace. The part though is a touch expensive (131789200 Sears Part Number). Probably would be a little cheaper than buying a new unit I guess. Let me know if you need any further information. Jim
