Toyota 2kdv engine average running KM between overhauls

Hi there
When you say overhauls ,well that depends on what you use it for/and do you mean engine overhauls or servicing,
Engine overhauls anything between 130.000 to 200,000 and serviceing every 10,000 km or 6000 miles depending on the type of oil and how many long runs you do per week.

My chainsaw has no power

Did you clean the air filter? Wrong idle settings. It is possible that there are also internal damage to the engine.

Chainsaw runs but will not idle

Check the owners manual for the location of the idle screws. There should be two (low/high). After starting the saw, use a small screwdriver to turn the screw counterclockwise until the proper idle speed is reached. These screws are usually recessed in the housing on the left side of the saw, and may have an L and an H next to the holes. Be careful, as sometimes these are plastic screws and you don't want to strip them. Note the original position by looking into the hole so you have a starting reference point. If the screws have no effect on the idle, you may have a throttle linkage problem (if the saw will only run at high speed and the throttle trigger has no effect). Your goal is to have an idle speed that won't kill the engine but will also keep the chain from moving or creeping on the guide.

Can anyone help with fuel mix and starting instructions for McCulloch 2214av chainsaw please

Ok, always use good quaility teo stroke oil, from a manufacturer who actually produces a chainsaw, ie Husqvarna/Stihl/Jonsered etc, all of these oils should be run at 50-1, avoid oil makes you have never heard of.
Starting instructions are as follows, switch the red ignition switch too on ( up ) depress the primmer bulb as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb ( you cannot flood the engine if you over prime, it is better to over prime ) pull the blue choke fully out, crank the engine until it fires once ( it will only fire once, do not continue to crank the engine after it first fires with the choke still out ) now push the choke fully back in, crank the engine until it fires up and runs on fast idle, now blip the throttle trigger to diss engage the fast idle position, the saw should now drop down to idle.

Saw runs fine for about 15 minutes, then the idle speeds up,then it dies, almost like it is flooding

Do aclean or overhaul of all fuel components.Change the spark plug or the coil aka=spark plug cable. But if your saw in lees the 2 yrs you need to follow the starting guide in order to avoid flooding.

If you need more help come back.Post / thumbs / testimonial are welcome!

Runs, but will not idle.

Turn the idle speed screw (not the idle jet screw--L) CW 1/4 to 1/2 turn so that the engine continues to run, but the chain doesn't turn. Make sure the air cleaner is not plugged. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw runs full speed, will not idle.

Expose the carburetor so that you can observe the action of the throttle lever on the carburetor. The trigger should move the lever from the idle adjust screw to full throttle stop. If no movement observed, remove the trigger assembly from the front handle (make notes as you remove the pieces) and clean the area of sawdust/dirt accumulation. Recheck the action after everything is re-assembled before starting the engine. If the idle speed is still excessive, then turn the idle speed screw several turns CCW until the chain stops turning. Try wiggling the carburetor body to see if it has come loose from the engine. Hope some of this helps!
