Question about Cuisinart EM-200 Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Water will not come through.

When I try and make an espresso it seems clogged the water will not come through. I have cleaned it to the best of my knowledge, I have made sure that the water tank is securely on the base and I have cleaned and checked that there are no clogs in the espresso coffee holder. It has been working fine and then it made a really funny sound and no more coffee. It is not making the funny sound anymore just not producing the coffee. I am not sure if the brand is the EM-200 or not. It is not an automatic. It does have a steamer on it.

Has the machine been cleaned / descaled? Coffee machines become clogged with mineral scale deposits from the water. Some folks use citric acid , about two tablespoons /qt of water, and some folks use white vinegar, 1/2 & 1/2. Place the solution in the machine as if you were making coffee. It may take a few cleanings if there is a lot of deposits. After cleaning dissolve two tbsp of baking soda in a quart of water and run through machine to neutralize the acid.

I own a Jura Capresso S8 espresso machine which has been wonderful except for the pump that makes the froth. I sent it back to be repaired once already, at the tune of $250.00. Now it seems to have gone again, and this time it will cost me $275.00 to have it repaired. Anything I can do myself?

Water flow problem

Check the coffee chute to see if its clogged. It is easier to use a small amount of white rice to clean your grinder, about a teaspoon.

Rinsing the incanto

Hi,

If you will clean it after using a preground coffe, open the door and take out the brewing unit (central unit) and wash it in warm water instead.

Make sure to descale your machine regularly.

Best regards

Espresso Flow Problems

Thanks a lot 20pence! - i removed the disc as described, cleaned it and this solved the coffee flow problem - I also had a problem with hot water coming down the steam pipe even when the valve was closed - presumably the disc was so clogged, the water was forced back down there. After cleaning the disc this does not happen - thanks again - good advice

No water ever makes it through the pump

I just got mine working again. There was scale in the outlet port for the coffee basket.
Try cleaning by running through a solution of CLR and water (1 to 4 parts) and keep running until the blockage dissolves and flow is restored. Then run another solution again just to clean it for good.

MAKE SURE TO RINSE OUT THE RESERVIOUR VERY WELL. Should run clear without foam after about a gallon of clean water.
