I notice that cleaning the nozzle and the contacts usually fix the problem as well. It is recommended that you shouldn't touch the nozzle and the contacs. Use lint free cloth and distill water. I use coffee filter (lint free), and little bit bottle water (no sink water).

I also have this problem occasionally. I wipe the metal rod with a kleenex and then put just a trace of a high quality oil (such as sewing maching oil) on my finger and rub it on the rod.

On the metal rod that the cartridges travel on, Just wipe this rod with a kleenex and the problem seems to go away. Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.

Printer displays hardware error 0502 wont print " HELP "

The 0502 error can have any of four possible causes:
- A faulty black/photo cartridge
- A faulty color photo cartridge
- A dirty encoder strip
- The encoder strip being out of position
.... most of the time, it's the encoder strip that is giving the problem..

Hardward error 0502 what do I do?

Hi there
This is same error as Dell Printers
On the multi function machine seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. Just wipe this rod with a Kleenex and the problem seems to go away.
Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.
Myself I would put a little bit of oil after on a cloth and wipe along the bar.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Hardward error 0502 comes on when printer is turn on

The problem is simple. The Shiny Silver bar that your Print Cartridges glide back and forth on is the PROBLEM!!! When the motor that moves the cartridges left and right HAVE TOO MUCH RESISTANCE, YOU GET THE HARDWARE ERROR: 502. How I fixed it is simple. Take some kleenex, and with power unplugged, clean the bar very well. Then Spray some WD-40 on a Kleenex, and lubricate the shaft!!
