If its an OHV engine you will need to check the valve lash setting to see if they are correct. You most likely have an intake valve problem.

I have a problem with my electric generator (don't start ) i allready replaced the sparkplug and new gas and still doesn't start (chicago electric 5500 watts)

did you blow out old gas from gas line going to carb? if this generator set up over the winter with no use, it probably has water condensation in the gas tank which has gotten into the gas line and carb. If you didnt do it already, blow undo the gas line off the tank and use compressed air (or by mouth) to blow out all the fule out of the line and carb. If you did not drain the old gas out before adding new gas, there still may be water in the tank and line. Try this and see if it fixes it. Give it time for the new gas to get through the line to the carb. To avoid this, keep the fuel tank full especially over the winter and you will not get any water condensation.

I am looking for a diagram of la 140 carburetor. my mower will only run if gas is poured into carburetor.

Sounds like you may need to remove the fuel line from the carb that comes from the tank and see if you have fuel coming out of it.If you don't,try blowing back through it to see if you have a blockage[remove the gas cap first].If you can't blow back through it then you either need a filter,a fuel line or the tank is plugged. If you did get gas to the carb the you need to take the fuel bowl off the carb ,pull the needle pin out and then clean the needle and seat.If none of the above works then soak the carb in carb cleaner for several hours and then clean the carb with brake clean and you should be good to go.If nothing works try a new carb.

Have to start on starting fluid, won't stay running. have replaced gas line and filter and primer bulb. What next?

You will have to pull your head to see if the valves are seating. If the exhaust valve is not seating it will send blow back through the carb.

Blowing gas out the air intake

Eight years is great for a weedeater! Blowing out can mean something is stuck in the reed valves, or one may be broken. They are just under the carb, usually. Be real careful with the gaskets. If you mess up any, silicone will do. Use good car gasket silicone.
