Is the serial number J96107 a real serial number? I was told that they only went up to J96096.

As with any hardware, you need to supply a "brand name" or manufacturer and what the "model number" is. Of course, a model number is not a serial number. Even within a brand, each model may have its own set of serial numbers. I suggest you do a google search for "brand serial numbers" replacing the word brand with your specific brand. But here is a short cut that may serve you well:

If you want to try another type of direct google search for your:

If you do not know the brand, then try the type of instrument and serial numbers. That may offer you a list of different instrument brands with links to serial numbers associated with them. Here is a result for a search for clarinet serial numbers.

Aria guitar serial number 65107005

I can't say about the age, but they seem to be in production still. CGp indicates a classical guitar, rather than an 'acoustic' guitar. the difference is in the strings. Classical guitar strings do not have the tension od regular steel acoustic strings. The fingerboard is usually flat and wider. I don't think they made these back in 1965. The serial number is different for each manufacturer and you would have to ask the manufacturer.

Hi, might as well give this a go. My Aria IGB35 (4-string) dosent work electrically. Thats all the info I'm able to give and dont wanna pay some guy 35 quid to fix something I could do myself. Any idea...

OK, plug in a cable, borrow a multimeter from a friend and meaure the output resistance on the other end of the cable, between the 2 connections on the plug. Should be between about 3000 to 15000 ohms with volume control flat out. Then report back here with your findings.
