Why Addresses in the IP Address Pool on a Switch Are Exhausted When the Switch Functions as a DHCP Server and It Has a Few Clients?

If the IP address pool has much more resources than needs of clients, the following two reasons may cause address exhaustion:
1. An attacker keeps changing the CHADDR field and sending DHCP Discover packets to exhaust addresses. If so, contact Huawei engineers to deploy DHCP snooping to protect the IP address pool.
2. The DHCP server ping function is enabled on the DHCP server. This function tries to ping the allocated addresses before responding to DHCP Offer packets. If a client responds to any ping packet, the DHCP server considers that there are address conflicts and addresses are exhausted. To solve this problem, two methods are available:
1. Capture packets on the ports connected to the DHCP server. If a client responds to ping packets, prohibit the client.
2. Disable the DHCP server ping function using the undo dhcp server ping packet command.
3. Such as S5700, S6700

100% CPU utilization all the time

Your switch could be looped. You could either unplug each rj45, or go into each port and use the shut command to find out if that is the case. If there are other switches hung off of this one, you could use the spanning tree command to auto shut the redundant interface down.

Good day, pls. help me, how can i install network ip address for konica 7035. thanks alot

Using arp command (Windows 95/98/NT/2000)
From Windows 95/98 MS-DOS prompt or at Windows NT/2000 command prompt, you can use the arp
command to assign the IP address to the network interface card. It is necessary that TCP/IP is set up
correctly on the computer that will execute the arp command. Perform the following procedure:
1. At Windows 95/98, select [MS-DOS prompt] from the [Start] menu. At Windows NT/2000, select
[Command prompt] from the [Start] menu.
2. Execute the arp command. For example, if the MAC address of the network interface card is
00:11:22:33:44:55 and the IP address to assign is 192.168.0.128, then input as shown below,
and then press [Enter].
(Example: C:\>arp -s 192.168.0.128 00-11-22-33-44-55
3. Execute the ping command for the assigned IP address. In this case no response is returned
from the network interface card.
(Example: C:\>ping 192.168.0.128
4. Turn off the main power supply to the print controller and the main body printer, then turn it
back on.
Chapter 2 Setting Up the Network Interface Card
2-4 Konica Network Interface Card INSTRUCTION MANUAL
A Status Page will be output. Check that the IP address is correctly set in the list. Or, when about 5
minutes have passed after having restarted the print controller and the main body printer using the
ping command, check that the network interface card responds correctly. The ping command is also
executed at Windows 95/98 MS-DOS prompt or Windows NT/2000 Command prompt. The example
of executing the ping command is shown below:
(Example: C:\>ping 192.168.0.128

My dell computer suddenly is not connecting to the internet and is showing "network cable unplugged" error

  1. start the troubleshooting process by making sure that everything (routers, switches, hubs, modems, and computers) is firmlyplugged in.
  2. If your computer is on and the other end of the Ethernet cable isconnected to a network device, the link or activity LED should light. If the light remains dark after you plug in the cable, replace thecable. If replacing the cable gives the same result (no green light), then go to the next step.
  3. Once you’ve eliminated cabling as a source of the problem, it’s time tolook to your computer. Start by making sure that your computer is able toaccess your Ethernet card. A good tool for doing this, and subsequentnetwork troubleshooting, is the command prompt.
  4. Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, and then Command Prompt. When the Command Prompt window opens, type ipconfig –alland press ENTER. Various lines of information will display, dependingon how your system is configured. Look for a section labeled EthernetAdapter Local Area Connection. This section should include a linelabeled Description, which should be a description of your Ethernetcard. If you see it, then your computer knows about your Ethernet cardand has successfully loaded the necessary drivers. If the Descriptionline is blank or missing, you will need to reinstall the drivers foryour Ethernet card.
  5. Your Ethernet card doesn’t detect a connection to the Ethernet cable. Open a command prompt, type ipconfig –all, and press ENTER. If the section that starts with Ethernet adapter LocalArea Connection contains a line labeled Media, with a status of MediaDisconnected, then your computer is unable to detect that a link hasbeen made from your Ethernet card through the Ethernet cable to anothernetwork device, such as your computer or router. Recheck the cabling.Use a known good cable to connect your computer to a known good networkdevice and then perform the check again. If the status is still MediaDisconnected, and you are sure that the cable and the network devicethe cable connects to are good, then you may have a bad Ethernet card.Reinstall the Ethernet card. If the problem continues, you may need toreplace the card.
  6. Other things to check:
  7. Bad connection, bad cable, or wrong cable. The ports on arouter, hub, switch, wireless access point, and print server can, likeany other device, go bad. However, the most common problem is not a badport but a bad or loose connection, a bad Ethernet cable, or the wrongtype of cable. Refer to the Cabling section above, to eliminate thesepossibilities.
  8. Wrong port. One possible cause of Ethernet port problems isusing the wrong port on a network device. For example, routers have WAN(wide-area network) and LAN ports. These ports accept the same Ethernetcabling but are not interchangeable. The same is true of hubs andswitches that have uplink ports, which are specially wired LAN portsthat allow easy cascading of multiple hubs and switches. In some cases, the uplink port is also a normal LAN port controlled by a switch on thedevice. If you’re using the uplink port as a normal LAN port, make surethe device is configured properly for this type of use.

If aport doesn’t appear to be working, you can use the link light toconfirm it. Port link lights should always be lit when a good cable isconnected between the port and another working network device. If youuse known good cable and a known good network device to test the portbut the link light isn’t lit, you may have a bad port. You can eitherreplace the network device, or in the case of a hub/switch, add a hubor switch to gain more LAN ports.
  9. You cannot connect to other computers or router/Internet. Whenother computers in your LAN can connect to each other, as well as tothe Internet or other services, and your computer cannot, this may bean indication that your computer did not receive an IP (InternetProtocol) assignment when you booted.
  10. Open a command prompt, type ipconfig –all, and press ENTER. Inthe section labeled Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection, look forthe line labeled IP. If it starts with 169, you have a self-assignedIP, which indicates that your computer was not able to acquire an IPassignment from the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server.

Test your access to the DHCP server by using the ping command. Open a command prompt and type pingfollowed by the IP address of the DHCP server. Your DHCP server isprobably the same as your router. For example, if your router’s IP is192.168.1.1, then type ping 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER. Youshould see four lines of text, starting with Reply From 192.168.1.1:Bytes 32, followed by time values that indicate how much time elapsedbetween the ping command and the router’s response. If you see fourlines that say Request Timed Out, then your computer cannot reach yourrouter/DHCP server.

Make sure the router is plugged in,turned on, and properly configured to provide DHCP services.
These are just a few things to try to help figure out if it is your cable, ethernet card, router, or some other problem.

HP 9040n NOT RESPONDING

Try connecting this printer to a different network wall point in the building. If still no change then move back to original wall point and try changing the connection at the Switch end in the comms room.

If still having problems then try pinging the printer to see if it gives time out or execessively high pings. Got a PC on the network and in windows open a "command" prompt and type ping -t XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX where the address of the printer should be place of the x's.

If linux open a console and type the same thing ping -t XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.

Facebook has turned our account off this morning even though we have complied with every request. Here is a text conversation between my Mother and myself as i asked her to contact Facebook for us: Mom: FB has removed any and all things under your old listing, searched for HHH and lots of names came up using name (first) JJJ but none of them you. They even removed you and Beth's name from my friend list and any thing posted from there. That is going above and beyond rules, that is just plain dictatorship. I will post something on my site and see if they let it run ME: contact them please first and ask whats what? Mom: Okay I only get that "you need to re-apply" answer Me: my screen says "Thanks for your help we'll look at the documents you provided and get back to you if we have questions" Me: • this after corresponding with them (guy named 'Jesse') everyday for past week • I uploaded our drivers licenses • told them why we wanted joint account (my Parkinsons) • they said we had to split it up so Beth said she'd start new • I put in my name BUT would not allow "J" • or • J • so I ended up having to spell it Jjj • and it worked ... for a day • so this morning it asked me to load more IDs (which I did) • and I explained to them I have long name that NO ONE uses • and that "J" is what I have been called since wee'un I have done all they asked Mom: Put in your full name Me: • too late to try • I already out that in and gave them IDs (MY parkinson's medical alert, my USAA Insurance card and homeschool ID) • just in case - here are copies of what I sent
