HDTV and cable box; no volume on channels higher than 99
Cable Box is Scientific Atlanta, Explorer 3250HD Digital Interactive Set-Top. At first, there was no volume on ANY channel. We tested the DVD player and DID have volume, then my granddaughter went into General Settings, then Audio Out and set it to "HDMI" which gave us volume for channels up to 99. Any suggestions?

Did you call Scientific Atlanta to find out if this could be a software issue in their box, or if there is a failure occurring?
I have had cable boxes do similar things to what you are describing. It turned out to be the box was defective and had to be changed. They were not serviceable. I believe these cable boxes were made by Scientific Atlanta.
I am having this same problem with our Mitsubishi LCD Flat Panel TV, Model LT-46246 ans our Scientific Atlanta remote cable box, same model as yours. We cannot use the remote at all to change the channel. I called Mitsubishi and they said they have never heard of this. I find this incredibly hard to believe. Time Warner, our cable provider says that it is not the box because it works when not hooked up to the TV. What a pain. I would love to hear if anyone else is having this problem or has a fix for it.
Are you connected to a cable box from your cable TV service Provider and use this device to select the channel you want to view? I have an HDTV which has the QAM tuning feature. Changing channels was instant until I accepted an offer from Cablevision for a 1 year rent free box and remote combo. The tuning box is a digital & analog Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4200 HD with a card slot for your subscription specs. This bypasses the tuner in your TV and the TV functions as a monitor.
If this is similar to what you have and you don't care about the channel/current program on screen display that appears for several seconds before the channel selection completes, perhaps the cable co. can adjust your box to supress this display if it will speed up the channel selection.
There is another annoying problem with this box. If you have a fraction of a second ac power interruption which might not even cause your computer to reboot, the cable box goes into a reinitialization that could take 5 minutes or longer. In my opinion, it is not worth the $6.50 per month charge we will receive when the year is up.
