Your problem is either calcium build up in the tankless or buildup in the plumbing fixtures. Your tankless should be flushed out with white vinigar. If you have mowen fixtures check the cartrages. To prevent this problem install GMX water treatment system to eliminate your hard water problems. Ron Haycook waterheaterflush.com

Rinnai tankless units, as with any unit, needs periodic maintenance. Depending on your water source, dirt can enter the lines and clog the screens, very common in a well water situation.

Here are two pieces of periodic maintenance that you or your service technician can perform to keep your Rinnai tankless water heater running smoothly:
In-line screen filter should be checked periodically for debris: (Period between filter checks will be dependent on water quality). Insure incoming water is turned off. The filter is located on inlet fixture below cabinet. Unscrew plug to remove. Expect some water drain off. Filter is a cylindrical screen.
Also, flush the unit periodically (Period between flushes will be dependent on water quality). This process will keep the unit free of scale and lime

Same problem with rinnai V1200.starts ok and as soon as you want to ajust cold water, the hot water line gets cold.**** all design

These units need water flow/pressure to work. If you use a mixer to get the right temperature as soon as you try to increase cold to make the water colder you unfortunately reduce the hot flow. Fairly complicated fault to explain, all continuous flow units have the same flaw. Solution is to try and increase flow and the best way is to take any water filters or restrictors out of your tapware. Most taps have the located in the end of the spout. Unscrew the end and remove any restrictors. Shower roses are a bit more tricky to find. This fixes 99% of these problems.

My infinnity hot water system surges hot and cold water continously I am hooked up to mains pressure all new pipes and new gas line it is preset 50 model

If this is a new house you might find you have water restrictors in your tapware. These have very fine filters in them. Tryunscrewing the end of the nozzle of each tap and see if you can take the filter out or at least the filter, makes sure you leave in any O rings or seals. The Infinity needs good water flow to stay firing. This is a very common problem epecially in hotter places fo Australia. Just to prove it try turning on two taps at once, I bet the problem does not occur if you do this.

Rinnai Infinity 26 hot water system set to 55 degrees with remote temp adjuster. Water only luke warm for showers. Burnner working, water & gas pressure ok. Any thoughts ... Stephen

If you aren't getting any error codes, then the heater is probably doing its job. Your problem is probably somewhere in your plumbing system. The most common reason you get this sort of problem is due to cold water mixing in the hot water system. There are a number of causes for a "cross connection" :

-Faulty check valve
-Missing check valve on reciculation return line
-Faulty shower cartridge
-Thermostatic mixing valve set too low
-Faulty thermostatic mixing valve
-Faulty anti-scald valve

The easiest way to confirm a cross connection is to: 1) shutoff the cold water entering the tankless heater 2) open hot water valves around the house. If you still have water flowing at your hot water fixtures, then you have a cross connection.

Our tanks are getting low but not empty. The hot water is running for about 20 seconds then going cold. We cant shower properly. Thankyou

Be aware that the Rinnai relys on good water flow to operate, especially in summer (bit complicted to explain why, just trust me). You need to make sire that any water filter are spotless. The Rinnai has a filter just above the mains water in tap (centre pipe) Turn the supploff first and remove it and give it a good clean.

I have a Rinnai model 2532 Tankless Water heater. When the Bath water is turned on (which is the largest water flow for the water heater)it makes a loud vibrating sound that can be heard through the entire...

We had the same problem - the hot water would only be hot for 3 -5 minutes and shut off, then we had to turn the water off, wait a few minutes, and do it again. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Soution: The Rinnai serviceman showed me the heat-exchanger blower/fan: It was clogged with dust and moths.

Another clue: Our Rinnai was extremely noisy when the heat came on. After the fan was cleaned and replaced, it is nearly silent.

If you are reasonably mechanically inclined:
TURN THE BREAKER / POWER OFF to the unit.

The blower-fan is located in the lower central area of the unit (at least on our unit). If you draw imaginary north-south, east-west lines through the center of the unit, the fan is in the lower-left quadrant. There is a spring clamp securing the black rubber accordian-like tube to the fan. There are two screws that secure the fan to the unit. there are two plugs that connect to the fan, as well as a third air-flow sensor that should be removed. then you can look at the fan unit, as well as the grill on the underside of the heat-exchanger that should be cleaned.

My thought was to go out and get a simple bug-screen, and place it over the air-input outlet vent going outside, but the repair guy said that although it may sound good, if that screen ever gets clogged, or reduces airflow to the Rinnai, then the unit will work harder, or even shut off, giving the same problem. Also - the Rinnai pipe going outside is a pipe within a pipe - so its both inlet and outlet air.

I need the manual for a Rinnai Infinity 26 hot water system

you can get it off the rinnai web site they have a spot on there to get the internet manuel,, but from what you are saying you may need to adjust the thermostat, or the temp, remember even though you will have endless hot water it still takes the smae amount of timed for the hot water to get to your faucet,, not only that make sure your shower heads aren't holding back to much water pressure, if you don't have enough water going thru the unit it will not stay lit, if will come on and go off, judt to dstisfy the unit,, make sure the filter is clear, on the cold side there is a cap screw if you take it off there is a screen in side you just pull it out and clean it and reinstal it,,

Runs out of hot water

I wonder if you have this problem below caused by a drop in water pressure from someone flushing a toilet or a washing machine. I would call the company to remedy this issue.

17. What is a cold water sandwich effect? The term “cold water sandwich effect” is a term that is used to describe the introduction of cold water into the hot water supply line during frequent on/off operation of an instantaneous water heater. The cold water sandwich effect, when present, appears as a momentary drop in hot water temperature as it is discharged from a hot water supply outlet (i.e. shower, tub, or faucet). This phenomenon is present in the operation of all instantaneous, tankless style, water heaters, but is minimized with the high tech design of Rinnai water heaters.
The technology built into the Rinnai water heaters is designed to minimize the cold water sandwich effect. Rinnai water heaters are microprocessor controlled and when water flow through them ceases, they remain in a “ready to fire state” for approximately 1 minute. If water flow through a Rinnai water heater begins within the first minute following water flow stoppage, the water heater will fire back up within 1 to 2 seconds. This minimizes the cold water sandwich effect that would otherwise be experienced with a low tech tankless water heater. It should be noted that the cold water sandwich effect cannot be removed completely from tankless style water heaters. The safety standards developed to insure the safe operation of water heaters require a delay in the ignition sequence of all gas water heaters.
While the cold water sandwich effect cannot be completely eliminated from standard plumbing systems, it can be eliminated from plumbing systems that have a supply and return hot water circulating system. Rinnai has developed 2 methods to eliminate the cold water sandwich effect in residential hot water circulating systems.
The first (and preferred) method to remove the cold water sandwich from circulating systems utilizes a small electric tank water heater (powered up) that is used with a dual purpose. The small water heater acts as a mixing tank to eliminate the cold water sandwich effect from the Rinnai water heater and it uses its electric heating element to offset the heat losses from the hot water circulating system.
The second method to remove the cold water sandwich from circulating systems utilizes a small 2 to 6 gallon storage tank installed on the hot water outlet of the Rinnai water heater. This tank acts as a mixing tank to blend the cold water sandwich with hot water and eliminating its effect at fixtures.

No water flow from hot water tap with a rinnai tankless water hea

Its A Possibility The Left Over Water In The Hot Is Frozen. If Your Line Is Exposed Outside Somewhere It Can Easily Freeze Up. Turn On The Hot Water Everywhere In The House And If Accessible Check The Lines To See Where The Warmth Ends. You Can Leave One Off Over Night In Hopes That It Will Eventually Defrost.
