What to look out for when choosing shoes for trekking? I bought some puma shoes from an online store but I think I made a wrong choice? Online Store: http://www.hypedc.com/puma/

It all depends on the terrain and length of the trek, but you may have accidentally chosen a good pair of shoes! According to the below website, you probably don't want "heavier full-cut backpacking boots" but instead choose "lightweight, comfortable, and nimble shoes that still have the support to handle burly trails and medium pack weights." Above all they need to be comfortable for lots of walking, provide solid ankle support and have good grip on the soles for loose surfaces.

How can i tell if my hiking shoe fits me properly?

Hiking boots can be really expensive, so you don't want to buy a pair that don't fit properly.
Take a look at this good youtube video that really helps explain how to tell a good fit on your hiking boots;

Do you need special hiking shoes for going on long walks?

Whether or not to buy hiking shoes really depends on what kind of walking you plan to do and how often.
Hiking boots are helpful for rougher terrain and for gripping. If you plan to mostly walk on flat ground, you can consider getting good walking shoes instead.

I'm planning on buy hicking boots. What should I know when buying hicking shoes?

Purchasing the right hiking boots for your feet and for your outdoor activity will make your trip much more enjoyable.
First,decide why you need boots. Camping with a backpack, hiking with a light bag and traveling internationally all call for different kinds of shoes.
Second, Put on a pair of the socks in which you intend to hike.
Go to a shoe store, the shoe department of a store that sells recreational equipment, or best of all, a specialized outdoor retailer.Find the lightest boots suitable for the kind of walking you plan to do. Leather is best for all purposes. Boots with inflexible soles are best for long walks with heavy bags. Lighter boots or heavy walking shoes are better for most other applications.
Try on the boots, tie them as you are likely to on the trail, and knock at the floor with your toe. If your foot slips appreciably, you are likely to get blisters. Ask for a smaller size, or try a different model.

Are there any general fitting tips I should know of?

Feet tend to expand over the course of a day so it's better to try on shoes in the late afternoon and evening. A tight fitting shoe in the morning can become uncomfortable as the day wears on. Especially if your job or daily activity involves alot of walking or standing.You should also make sure your big toe has around half an inch or a thumb width of space. Otherwise your toes will rub against the material and this will create discomfort and blisters. Just make sure you can extend your toes and wiggle them when trying your shoes on.Also Make sure your wearing your usual pair of socks and not thick hiking socks.

Large foot

but that's as high as I've seen them. Stores usually don't carry my size so I'm very used/comfortable with ordering online. Anyone out there have any suggestions? If you already have a pair of work boots or hiking boots that covers the ankle go with them…,,,
