SOURCE: I need help! I'm

here is what you will need to complete this project:

  • Your new DVD burner with the included screws and cable.
  • A phillips screwdriver.
  • your new harddrive
  • Once you unpack the drive and find a screwdriver, you can finish the prep work by turning off and unplugging the power from your PC.
Installing Your Harddrive Step1 Open up your case after backing up any important files and locating and installing any software that came with the hard drive. Check to make sure that your computer supports SATA or that you have a SATA PCI card installed. Step2Look for the smaller connector on the SATA cable and connect it to the SATA connector located on the motherboard or controller card. If you already have another SATA drive, simply follow its cable to the motherboard or card to see where this one will attach. Step3Grab the larger end of the SATA cable and connect it to the back of the SATA drive itself. You will also need to attach the legacy 4-pin connector or SATA power cable to power your drive. At this point, check to see that both the smaller and larger end of the SATA cable and the power cable are securely connected and proceed. Step4Choose an available drive bay and insert the hard drive into it, mounting it in place with the four screws provided. Make sure to follow the directions that came with your drive and place the screws in the designated holes to secure proper grounding. Step5Ensure that all cables are properly attached and replace the tower or desktop case cover. After doing this, you're all set to reconnect the power cord and turn on your computer. Formatting and Partitioning Step1Boot from your Windows CD. If this is the only hard drive present, you'll be shown a series of instructions and should simply follow along. Step2Select "Control Panel" then "Performance and Maintenance" and finally "Administrative Tools" for an additional hard drive. Then click the "Computer Management option and choose "Disk Management." Simply right-click the drive to partition and format it. Step3Follow the steps displayed. Windows will guide you through the rest of the process. Now for your dvd drive---- 1.Shut down the system, unplug the power cord and remove the side panel or panels from the case. Ensure that the new DVD-ROM drive is set to be "Slave" or "Master," depending on if it is a replacement or an additional drive. 3 2.Locate the empty drive bay for the new DVD-ROM drive, and remove the drive bay covering. 4 Insert the new DVD-ROM drive into the empty bay and secure with screws or other attaching device provided by the manufacturer. 5 3.Connect the open connector on the ribbon cable (red stripe towards power cable) to the new DVD-ROM drive and connect the power supply cable (plastic four connector plug from power supply)to the drive. 6 Replace the side panel or panels, plug in the power cord and turn the system on. Install your dvd software bundle and get to work. These are actually two things you will want to do at once while the computer is open , but i would do them one at a time in case you have problems you will know what to blame. You can leave the cover off while operating the computer so that you can test it after the hard drive instrall and before the dvd install.

Samsung r530 wont boot up

Unfortunately, in my past experience this particular model it seems to have a very bad habit of hard drive failure on a regular basis. The particular samsung hard drives used in it are horrible and so is samsung support. You don't say weather or not you can boot from the CD/DVD drive with a live cd in it, but you should try getting one and trying it out.

Get a copy of Hiren's boot cd from here:
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/files/Hirens.BootCD.15.1.zip

Extract the iso and burn it to a CD, then put the CD in your CD/DVD drive and boot from it. Use some of the Hard Drive 'diagnostics on the CD to determine if the Hard Drive is Dead Like I think it probably is. Then Contact Samsung support from this page:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/NP-R530-JA02US

Keep after them until they address the problem to your satisfaction. This is a VERY common problem with this particular model so give them an earful!

How can i get my images off of my camera if i don't have a cd

You don't need a CD -- You need a computer and a burner
Attach your camera to a computer via a download cable and save them to your hard drive until such a time that you have a CD/DVD burner and a CD or DVD disk then transfer them all to a CD/DVD

How to fix invalid system disk on dell mini 10v

Make sure you don't have a music cd or movie dvd in the cd/dvd drive. Did you get windows 7 installed on the disk? If so, make sure you are booting from the hard drive. Look in the bios and see if you see an AHCI setting, if so try changing it.

I dont know how to set boot option?

Normally you want to boot from the CD/DvD drive 1st then the Hard Drive 2nd. This is the best way because if the hard drive ever goes bad you can put a operating system disc or repair disc into the drive and boot from it.

Just be careful that when you boot the computer you don't have a music cd or movie dvd in the drive otherwise you might get an error messages saying unbootable device.

Can't watch blue ray movies on my acer aspire model 5334

Taken from the acer support website.
" Optical media drive 8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive:
  • Read: 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-R, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD-ROM, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 6X DVD-ROM DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 6X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM
  • Write: 24X CD-R, 16X CD-RW, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 4X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 8X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM
"
This model of computer does not have a blu-ray drive unless you got a third party upgrade. In this case, you will need to track down special drivers, which can best be done by whomever sold you the drive.
