Question about American Pro VS-1466 Car Equalizer

1 Answer

Ok....well i dont exactly know why my equalizer isnt turning on......

Basically i attached the red (12v in) to the same power as my car stereo so i didnt have to make another hole in the firewall of my truck, and i put the black (ground as everybody knows) to a ground in my truck that was already there. and the light for the power dosnt come on when the stereo comes on...which is in the accesory position with the ignition switch....i dont exactly know where to put the orange (it says remote) which i know what a remote wire does...which is turn it on remotely when everything else turns on....because i have no remote wire in my truck that i have found......if anyone knows where i can find the manual for this thing or knows what im doing wrong please by all means contact me. my email is need an answer really bad cuz my whole stereo is in pieces right now and im driving around in it w/o music. also if it helps my truck is a 1988 f150 xlt lariat. thanks

If you have an amp in your truck, try and use the same remote wire that runs from your head unit to the amp.

Don't no how to hook it up ...

Hook up an RCA patch cable
between the output of your car's
stereo receiver and the graphic
equalizer's RCA inputs. Use
stereo cables with male RCA
Connect the equalizer's outputs
to the RCA inputs of your
amplifiers. How many cables you
need will depend upon the
number of amps in the system. In
most cases, you'll need two to
three to connect the equalizer to
the inputs of your amplifiers.
Hook up the equalizer to 12-volt
power. Use the same power
connections you used to connect
your amplifiers and receiver. The
equalizer's yellow wire should be
connected to a constant power
source, one that is not switched
off with the ignition, and the red
wire (not always present) to a
switched 12-volt power source.
Splice the wires by stripping the
insulation off the end of each
wire and then soldering or
crimping them together.
Connect the equalizer's blue
"turn-on" lead to the receiver's
blue wire. This turns the
equalizer on when the receiver is
powered up.

What is the blue/white wire on a kgc-6042a car equalizer and the yellow which is the power

blue/white would be the "turn on signal" wire, i.e. one that gets 12v when the unit is supposed to be on (this would correspond to the amp turn-on or power antenna wire from your CD player) whereas the yellow wire is the 12v constant power wire.

I need to know where the rcas go and what wires go

Red = To battery Black = Earth - Most people wire it to body of car Blue = REM Wire - Remote amp Wire goes to back of stereo so it can trigger amp to turn on
Then AUX L And R IN goes to The stereos AUX out.
After that its done
Unhook your battery before preforming any stereo modifications and remove fuse in the RED amp Wire it will be a big fuse you cant miss it, Case any wire accidentally touch when fitting they don't short .

My pioneer deq-9200 equilizer keeps resetting to default settings whenever i start my engine. What's going on here?

The EQ has two power wires on the back like a head unit. One is constant power, and the other one is ignition/switched power. This normally happens when the installer takes the switched power and applies it to both power leads going into the EQ or head unit. The EQ needs the constant power line run to a 12V source that never turns off. The constant power line is normally yellow, and the switched power line is normally red.

Pyramid 903G Booster/EQ no amplification

An equalizer and an amplifier are two very different things. The equalizer I have in my car only boosts the power by 12 Watts RMS, but that is not the point of it. I have the amps to power my speakers, and the equalizer for fine tuning the sound. You may want to see how much wattage this equalizer is going to add before you blame it. It may be doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

Need wire diagram for clarion 500EQA equalizer

Your installation manual is not anywhere to be found since the product you are inquiring about was made 1985-87... however, by deduction, you can figure it out yourself...

You need a Power 12V Constant.
A 12V Switched
A Ground
And Signal Cables.

Reply with the wire colors available to you, and I will tell you what is what.

Yellow is usually constant 12V.
Red is Ususally switched 12V.
Black Is Ground.

RCAs are self explanitory.

If your EQ has HI Level outputs, the color scheme is a little more complicated.

Wiring problem

Usually Sony EQ's have a square, 4-pin connector on the back of them

If your looking at the back of the EQ, the upper left pin is +12V (power), the upper right is the Remote, the lower left it Ground, and the lower right is usually not used, but can sometimes be the Illumination circuit... but again, usually is not used.
