When I try to make ice, it always makes crushed. How do I get cubes?

The solenoid needs to be checked for free operation, you should be able to remove the ice bucket and reach into the small opening where the solenoid saddle is and easily lift it with your finger, and it should fall back down when you let go. The saddle should be down when the bucket is installed so the actuator rod slides into the saddle. If the solenoid is actually energized in both the crushed or cubed setting, you will need to look to the mechanical switch and orange flag indicator on the front of the freezer door for possible shorts. Most likely the solenoid assy is frozen, or iced up as this is a simple non electronic dispenser system. Pleazer Appliance...

Frigidaire model glrs267zcwi side by side. Crushed ice comes out when either the crushed or the cubed button is depressed. How to fix it please?

It sounds like the water line to the ice maker is partially obstructed (probably semi-frozen) and the unit is making smaller than normal ice cubes. This causes the ice ejector to "shatter" the smaller cubes, producing the appearance of crushed ice.

The easiest thing to try is make sure the water line connection inside the freeezer isn't frozen. A hair dryer can be used to thaw the inlet to the ice maker, but just be careful. Remove some of the product in the compartment so you have enough room to work.

Only puts out crushed ice

Pull out the ice bin and set aside. On the back wall of the freezer where the auger drive coupling is, to the right and down below the locator pin, is a square opening....make sure that the actuator is in the down position. if stuck in up position, it will always crush the ice. We have had the same problem with our frigidaire. The actuator is connected to the "crushed ice" solenoid.

Dispenses crushed ice and will not dispense ice cubes

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Only crushed ice

Pull your cube container out and push it back in.
There is a slot on the rear that the actuator arm rides in.
It has come out of position.

Only can get crushed ice no matter what setting is on

Take the ice container out of the freezer, there is a metal rod that sticks out behind the ice container, You should be able to move this up and down to open a flap in side front of container to allow whole cubes to get through. In rear of freezer there is a hole that this rod sticks into. You will see a plastic square shaped actuator hanging down. It sould be completely down, and you should be able to move it up and down easily with your finger. If not then it is either frozen or it has failed. If it seems to be hanging about half way down, take a hair dryer and warm it enough that you can move it up and down. Once it is all the way down, reinstall ice container and try for cubed ice again.
