It sounds like you tried to upgrade the firmware on the router and it got interupted or did not complete for some reason.....You may be able to use the reset button and reset the router and try again.

Otherwise...the router may be corrupted so badly that there is no fix. Contact D-Link for suggestions for repairing corrupt firmware.

I think you can try upgrading the firmware on your router,

Connect the computer to the router.
Download the latest firmware.
Open the setup page of the router and upgrade the firmware.
After upgrading the firmware, reset the router and reconfigure it manually.

See How to upgrade firmware on Linksys router.

I recently updated the firmware on this router but was using the wireless connection and it disconnected before the update was complete. I know through reading the online documentation that you can upload...

Never Upgrade the Router on Wireless, it might Corrupt it
Try to Reset the Router Completely
then again Try to Configure using a hard Wired Connection to Router
Next time for any updation or changes try Wired Connection, its Best

Also For Wireless Disconnections, try to change channel and Mode for Wireless and Observe the Connections

USR 5461 can't be configured

Verify 1st if you can still communicate with the router, if your running WIndows go to the command prompt and type ipconfig, check your default gateway address(192.168.x.x) then type ping(space)192.168.x.x if your getting replies your still lucky that means the firmware was just incomplete and to complete this without accessing the configuration utility, you need a tftp server installed on yuor computer to load the firmware of the router, check if your router manufacturer has a recommended tftp server, if not download any tftp server software from 3rd party manufacturer such as linksys or netgear, dlink. When you open the tftp software it will normally prompt you to enter the following information - ip address of the device you want to upgrade, password and the ocation of the file you need to load on the device(in this case the firmware(.bin) that you downloaded).

Hope this will help you get your router uo and running,

Regards.

Disconnection problems

I see. You can try changing the wireless settings of the router. You can do that by accessing the web based utility of the router. Here are the instructions:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.
2. Type the following text in the Open box: http://my.router
3. If this is the first time configuring your Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router, or if the user name and password have not been changed from the default settings, type admin in the User Name field and admin in the Password field.
4. Click the OK button. The Configuration screen appears.
5. Under the Basic settings, under Wireless Settings change the channel from Auto to 1, 6, or 11.

If that does not work, you can try updating the firmware of the router. You can download the firmware from this site:
http://www.dell-drivers.com/dell-drivers-downloads/Dell-Wireless-2350-Broadband-Router_8689.shtml

Here are the instructions on how to upgrade:

1. Reaccess the configuration page of the router using a wired computer.
2. Click on System Tools, find Firmware Upgrade.
3. Click Browse and search for the firmware you downloaded from the site I gave you earlier. Select it and then start the upgrade. Let the firmware finish its upgrade.

Upgrading firmware

Downloading the Firmware Step 1: Before downloading the firmware, make sure that your computer has an active Internet connection. If your computer is plugged directly into the router and cannot get online, disconnect your router and plug your computer directly into your cable or DSL modem. Step 2: Once you are able to get online, click here to go to the WRT54G Version 5 Download page. Step 3: Click Download to download the firmware file. Approx. file size (Zip file): 1.39 MB If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Internet Explorer, you may see a 'Pop-up blocked' message in your browser Information Bar. If so, click the bar and select Temporarily Allow Pop-ups. Then, click the Download link again. Step 4: Click Save in the File Download dialog box that appears. Step 5: In the Save As dialog box, choose a location for the file (like the Desktop) and click Save. The wrt54gv5_fw_1[1].00.6_US_code.zip file will then be downloaded. NOTE: You will need to use a utility to open and extract files from the ZIP file archive. Popular software to use is WinZip®. For information on how to download WinZip®, visit the following website: http://www.winzip.com. You can also use the built-in unzipping features of Windows XP to unzip the contents from the archive.
