OP Err code on George Foreman Grill

My 1 year old grill has stopped working. The code OPP Err comes up in the time and temperature windows. I'm guessing it's some kind of safety feature that kicks in when it's not supposed to. Any thoughts? Thanks.

SOURCE: I need the instruction manual for my George Foreman Mini Roaster (also called a grill)

I set the roaster for 60 minutes for any size chicken (or parts) that fits after it warms up for the 5 minutes(PH). Best to coat the inside with oil or cooking spray, even though it is non-stick, it will stick.
Anything that fits inside the drip pan area (not soft plastic--grease will melt it) will work. Try using a saucer, you can swap it out with a second if the first gets full. Place in a cookie sheet if you are afraid you'll spill drippings on your counter.
I've had mine for 2 years and it works great. Much better than heating up the house with the oven.

SOURCE: OP Error on George Foreman grill model GRP99B

Hi srpaugh,

It might be fixable (I don't know your level of do-it-yourself skill or inclination, nor can I actually get my hands on it to tinker with it), but judging from the number of reports I've seen in the last couple of days on FixYa regarding these grills, there are some reliability issues that need to be resolved - - I'd be contacting the manufacturer and making them do the fix, particularly if it's still under-warranty.

Go to

Traeger has shut down twice during cooking. Started up again and it worked. Why.thank you

You probably got an error message, too. If it goes below a certain temperature for too long, it will shut down. It can be annoying, but I guess it's a safety feature. Are you in a cold climate? Try cooking at a little higher heat level.

We have a 3 year old Cooke and Lewis integrated microwave/grill that has recently stopped working. It starts up but after 5/6 seconds it stops and 'err 5'comes up on the display. Any ideas?

if this was purchased from the likes of B&Q, at the time of purchase, the retailer must ensure that the goods are/were fit for purpose for a period of 6 years from date of purchase. This is regardless of manufactures warranty. Take it back, demand a new one, quoting the above

I have a Weber Grill I purchased in 1999. It has been a dream to use except at Thanksgiving. The first time I used it for a turkey in 2000 it was fabulous; I follow the directions for indirect...

Ambient temperatures can affect the heat level of your grill, but if it is a few years old there could be other issues. For temperature reading, you can pick up an inexpensive oven thermometer (less than $10) that you put inside on the shelf and let it sit a few minutes, then read your temp. With use and age it is very common for some of the holes on the burners (where the gas comes out and burns) to get filled up with drippings from the food you have cooked. It might be a good idea to take out your cooking grids, flavor bars or briquettes and expose the burners. Light them and see if you are getting an even flame all the way across. If not, then they should be removed and cleaned out. You may use a wire brush on the outside and then you may have to use a small nail or something similar to open up the holes where the gas comes out. Lastly, you should lightly tap the end on concrete or something hard (while having the open end pointing down) to knock loose any sediment that may have built up inside. Reinstall them and relight them and check your work. You may have to re-poke the holes a couple of times and shake it out to get them all clear. Reassemble your grill and it should work like new again!

I'm getting an "Err" message on my digital temperature reading. The grill starts up but then shuts down when the "Err" message comes up.

Remove your grill, inner shield and outer dip plate from the Traeger. Start the Traeger in smoke mode. Observe to see if the blower fan is working. Is the auger turning? Are the pellets dry? Condensation can make the pellets swell and cause plug ups.

I have a new weber spirit 320. the temperature rose to 600 degress initially but now won't go over 300 degress. replaced tank with a new one and still won't get hotter than 300 degress.

Allowing the gas to rapidly come out of the tank triggers the safety feature. S L O W L Y open valve just a tad. A safety device inside the tank will shut down the flow of gas if it thinks their is a leak.

Troubleshooting amana gas grill

From a tag that came with the grill -

"To ensure proper gas flow, all of the burner control valves MUST be off before opening the LP cas cylinder valve.

When turning on the LP gas cylinder valve, make sure to open the valve SLOWLY two complete turns to ensure proper gas flow.

All LP tanks now come equipped with a leak detection device internal to the tank, when gas is allowed to escape rapidly it will restrict the gas supply to the appliance. Opening the valve rapidly may simulate a gas leak, causing the safety device to activate, restricting gas flow and causing low flames or poor ignition.

Opening the valve slowly will insure this safety feature is not falsely triggered."

I would guess you triggered the tank failsafe inadvertently.

Nighthawk model kn-cop-dp, when plugged in i get an error code

I have the same problem....The answer is the detector has died. This kind of detector has a warranty for 5 years. Mine was assembled 8 years ago and just died this morning. 8 years is good for this kind of detector. The protection device inside wears out in time. Thats why you keep getting an err message.

Fan problem

So is it cooking okay?

I would guess that your hood thermostat is failing.

The hood thermostat's job is to turn on the exhaust / vent / hood fan whenever the temperature above the cooktop gets too high.

A thermostat can only trip so many times before it starts to fail. Then it may come on by itself from time to time then finally stay on permanently.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

We even have a video on our site that shows you how to safely & easily remove the control panel assembly in less than 5 minutes so you can check out your oven.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The same thing is happening to my model and I called the 18009373883 and there is only a one year warranty on it, so if a year has passed your out of luck. If you have a valid receipt then they will give you directions on how to send it in for repairs. Sorry.
