Do not have any power on the left side of the coil

When using spark plug tester, there is no fire on the left cylinder coil on a Briggs&Stratton 21 HP, OHV, twin cylinder engine. The model is 407777 and type is 0124E1. What could the problem be?

Check that the air gap between the ignition armature not getting spark and the flywheel are between .008 and .012. Also note that the engine must be producing, by Briggs standards, 350 rpm to produce spark. It's rare for an ignition armature (coil) to go out, but it does happen. If a new plug on that side and correct air gap don't solve the issue, hit me back up on it.

Justin, Did you replace the right coil, are the leads good,
Are both the triggering magnets still in the fly wheel, are they clean? Touch any piece of metal to both of them and make sure they are equal strength or close to it. If one magnet weak replace.

I have a 20 hp briggs and stratton that wont get any fire

Check the diodes in the wires to the coils. Trace the wires from the coils, and they should join together into a single wire. In the junction of the wires, there is diodes. There is a possibility the diodes burnt out which will not allow power to the coils. My experience was when one burnt out and only one cylinder would run. I replaced the wiring and both cylinders worked fine.

One cylinder not firing

First take the plug wire off the plug to the one not firing..start and then using a pair of pliers hold the plug wire away fro the plug insert a rubber handled screw driver in the plug wire and make screw driver contact with the plug end..there should be spark if the coil is good..if not that coil must be replaced...good luck

Shuts off and runs weak when hot

Hello,
My name is Dane and I'll try to help you with your problem. It sounds as though you have a weak coil to me. Sometimes a coil will either completely stop producing spark or will get weak after it gets hot from a running motor. You can buy a coil tester from any automotive supply. just take the spark plug wire off of your plug and attach the tester between them. Crank the motor and see if the tester lights brightly. Be careful, the engine can still start with this installed. If the light is weak, replace the coil. I hope this helps. Thanks! Dane

Shuts off after running a while

Given the fact that you offer absolutely NO information about what "IT" is, I am going to guess at a solution for you.
I am assuming that you have a one cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine mounted in a riding lawn mower that sounds like you are dealing with a defective ignition armature, commonly know as the coil.
You can verify this by obtaining an in-line spark tester, the kind with a neon bulb that will show a visible spark while the engine is running,
Insert your tester in the spark plug wire and connect it to the spark plug, start the engine and run it until it "shuts off". Immediately try to restart it while watching the spark tester for a visible sign of spark. If you see no light flash or a very weak looking light in the tester, replace the ignition armature/coil.

Have a problem with a BS600-W-1 generator

With your model number I could see if it has a low oil safety switch I have seen them go bad (check your oil level )
With all wires un plugged from the coil you should have spark
if not coil is bad .
Use another spark plug to test for spark, ground the side of the plug by holding it against some-ting metal on the engine , spark
plug wire hooked to the plug. leave a spark plug in the cylinder
head so gas wont fly out and hit the test spark plug catching fire (seen it done).
Good luck
