HI. Go to menu, and select "manual tuning. ". This is not straight forward, as you have to determine which "number" you give to each channel you find. However there are ways of shifting, say putting them in the right sequence after auto tuning. Do this really from the top of the list down to last channel, otherwise it may drive you crazy after a while. Good luck i should say.
In your "Channels" menu, you should have the option of "auto tune". Once you've plugged in your antenna, cable cord, select this option. Before doing so, unplug your tv ONLY and let it set for about a minute. Plug it back in, turn on, go into Channel Menu and select the "auto tune" option. This may take a while, as newer tvs have several hundred channels. This will auto tune your tv to the channels received through your selected device\cable. You may consult your user manual for further assistance. I just did this with my tv a couple weeks ago and its very simple. You will also be able to "delete" channels that do not come in well, or not at all i.e. The "ant screen" etc.
You have not cleared the number of programs tuned in the auto mode,if only one program is tuned than only remote or TV will will not change channels, check by tuning with cable connection with multiple programs, you will get the solution.
I just tried finding a manual for the toshiba and didn't find much. In the setup menu there should be an auto setup for tuning in channels. Cable or off-air. Let the system do an auto set-up to find channels available. I'll keep looking for a manual. Let me know how you do.
