Question about Washing Machines

Leaks: loud noises

When the machine goes into the spin mode; it sounds like is going to take off. It also leaks from some where. I have checked the bottom and can not see or feel any wet areas.

This leak is coming from the internal water inlet valve. the jet noise can be because a heavy load was inserted and it could also be a failing motor. most spin noises are normal with age but, if its extremely loud, its because of a bad belt or gear case.

Magtag MAV408DAWK washer is working, but horrible noise when Spin. Agitator works normally, though it has weak sounds, loudly horrible noise in Spin mode. All others are working well. What parts do I have...

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem seems to be either with the brake assembly or the transmission assembly going bad and needs replacement. If the sound is loud then the recommended repair is replacing the transmission assembly however you can also check the brake pads, if worn out then they also need replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Noise in the spin mode on a Amana LWA50AW top load washer

Based on your description, it sounds as if your outer spin bearing is faulty. See link below for an illustration of the bearing. Special tools are required to replace this item.

Loud banging noise when machine goes into spin mode. sounds like it is banging on the side. Please help !

Usually this is an out-of-balance condition caused by too much weight on one side of the tub, move the clothes around and try again.

Loud spin cycle/water leaking

If your washer is making a "freight train" like noise in the spin mode, ( loud roaring ), this is often the spin bearing built into the bottom area of the transmission that is worn out. This bearing is part of the transmission and means a new transmission is required. The noise is usually a result of water leaking from the center seal and bearing area onto the transmission. This water washes out the bearing and it gets very noisy in the spin cycle!! Do check the easy stuff before condemning, nail/pin caught in one of the inner basket holes, nothing is caught in the drain pump, the inner wash basket is not loose and wobbling around.

My Capacity Plus Admiral Washer will spin and agitate, but it makes a loud grinding noise.

Well, Sounds to me like the Bearings are going out, but it could make that noise a good while, before it goes completely out.. Replacement would possably be more cost effective, Kinda hard to beleive !!!!!!

Check to be sure inner tub is not spinning freely on spin tube. It can be noisy when this happens. When it's spinning and stops it may continue spinning for a bit when this happens. You usually need to replace spin tube, because the tabs that key into drive block for inner tub break off. Also replace drive block.
