Question about HP w1907 LCD Monitor

3 Answers

My w1907 monitor is too dark to see anything without a flashlight

It was working fine last night, today it is so dark it's looks black. If I shine a flash light directly on it I can see it is working. I tried resetting brightness & contrast but neither had a effect. I restored my computer back to last week when it was working. Nothing, HELP please!

Mine isn't so dark I can't see anything, but there it is definately darker than it was earlier in the day.

THe thing is, though, my cursor is still white, but nothing that is supposed to be white is white. There also seems to be a blue kind of fram around my screen when it is black. (Not black like when I turn it off, just black when the screen is.)

Here is a replacement CCFL power supply. $75 USD

Replacing the part is at your discretion. You can also just ask a electronics savvy friend to do the swap.

Your backlight is gone. LCDs usually use CCFL (Cold cathode Fluorescent Lamp) for backlight, maybe it's your CCFL power inverter (power supply for the CCFLs) or the CCFLs themself.. You probably won't be able to fix that for yourself :(

My acer aspire laptop 5336-2524 worked fine until today when i turned it on everything works fine except the screen stays black. What can i do to fix this

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

Black screen? So does it look like it booted up fine or did it shut down? Does it look like the computer is running, but the screen is black? If so, then:

The camera still works but when its dark in the room nothing shows on the monitor. If we turn the light on it works. It seems like the night vision feature is broken. I covered what looked like the light...

  1. It should go to automatic night vision. If this feature is not working then the answer to will a flashlight work the answer is not very well. The light will have to be on the child and a flashlight does not have much light behind it. Perhaps if you put a small lamp on a dresser that shines on the area the child is, this may work enough to keep an eye on him/her. A flashlight not so much. Hope this helps.

Monitor has power. Will come on very briefly and the go to black screen. Can turn power off and back on and get the same above result. After a 2-3 hour period may come to life...may not.

It appears as if the monitor's back lighting is failing. To test the theory, take a bright flashlight and shine it on the lcd monitor screen when it goes black. If you can see the images that were on the screen before it went dark while shining the flashlight on the screen, then the back lighting is failing. Depending on the monitor, it could have florescent or L.E.D. back lighting, but it's usually more economical to simply replace the monitor with a new better performing monitor, than to attempt repairing the back lighting on the failing monitor.

The l226wtq goes black

Try shining a flashlight on the screen, or without the flashlight, try to see if you can distinguish anything on the screen at all, if you do, the backlight is dead, or the monitor has an internal most likely unfixable problem.

Sceptre X-24-wg LCD not bright dark

if you can see the image in the monitor the light tubes are not firing and this is commonly caused by blown capacitors on the power board, the capacitors need to be replaced and the monitor should work fine.
Let me know what you want to do .

I have to push the power bottom all the time. If i don't, it turns off and the light indicator goes off not amber or any other color. Now that i'm typing i'm pushing the bottom... Last night it was working...

Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen blacked out, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,
