We purchased a kenmore 800 in late January. Now it has stopped working and only works on the spin cycle. We just had a repair man come to see it, and he says it's the sensor. Because it is a new model, there are no parts available, and it has to be ordered. I have a large family. The part should come in about a week (we'll see about that) and then we will still have to schedule the appointment to fix it. I'm wondering, is there any compensation for having to go to the laundromat, spending money, and being inconvenienced for buying a seemingly worthless product? I'd rather exchange it for another model. Any advice?

If you are clear abt what the prob is we could solve very quickly. At the beginning you say "now it has stopped filling up with water" below you say "it will not fill up or......" I agree with you abt the manual being useless.

Well first of all, although it sounds silly,,, make sure the water valves are turned completely on, and there are no kinks in the hose's. This could be one of several problems. It could be that the timer is malfunctioning and not opening up the water inlet solenoids. It could also be that the water inlet solenoids themselves are malfunctioning. Either way, if you have only done 2 washes, it should still be under full warranty. I suggest contacting Sears, or Kenmore and try getting a service technician to go over to your house

The first thing seems to be the timer,or the water level switch. Try filling the washer with water by hand, if it starts to agitate after being filled its the timer, if not it is the water level switch, let me know if you need further assistance.

8 out of 10 times the hose screens are clogged.  1. Remove the hoses from the back of the machine, but leave them connected to the hose bibs.  2. Remove the screen from the hose (it may be stuck at the back of the machine) (This is where deposits usually build up.) 3. Aim the hoses into the drum or a bucket and turn on the bibs. 4. If you don't have a full flow of water coming out of the hoses you will need to remove the hoses from the bibs and reverse the process. Good Luck.

SOURCE: top load Kenmore 800 washer will not fill with water

OK - I have a solution to my problem with this washing machine. Nothing would work except for one of the spin cycles. I thought it was the main switch - the cycle selection and start switch - but I was wrong. The service tech replaced the switch behind the fabric softener. It's the switch that controls the water levels. Part # W10292584. Our government is forcing the manufacturers to put controls on the washing machine to save water. It's a bad idea and is causing lots of problems. Tech says he's replacing them on a regular basis. Less than $100 if you do it yourself. Hope this helps.

During filling reaches fL before finished filling and stops

Not sure if this was explained to u but these washers do not fill like the old top loads did... the machine uses very little water, the clothes are rolled over and over through the water as it cascades down and up through the agitator. If you look at the agitator you'll notice it does not have an elongated spindle, it's not required. Although the machine doesn't fill your clothes will be fully washed, this design was developed to conserve water...

if you are saying that the washer finishes the load of clothes and timer goes to off and water is filling the tub after this then you have a bad water valve on the back of the washer.disconnect the water lines and change out the valve

filling and never stops and never agitates? then check level switch and hose, any hole in the clear hose to the level sw can cause this. if airtight then replace level sw.

Are you happy with the Kenmore 800 4.0 cu.ft. top load washer?

For large capacity, a front loader would be your best bet. An HE2 by Kenmore should be sufficient. If a toploader is overloaded, it's more likely to do damage. Also a Whirlpool Duet would work. Whirlpool makes Kenmore, so shop for the best price, (they are the same inside)
