How to fix an oil leak in my Task Force 2000 psi Pressure Washer

I just got my Task Force 2000 psi out to do some spring cleaning and notice about 1/4 cup of oil leaked onto the bottom of the box. I can not detect where the leak came from. I tried to call custom service but the number has been changed and the number they gave me was to direct T.V.(honest!). How can I add oil to this pressure washer and what can I do to fix the problem? Thanks

SOURCE: karcher pressure washer leaking oil

all 4 stroke engines have oil, and 2 stroke can have a oil mixer reservoir to mix with engine gas or to lube the chains , gears, pumps.
If yours is 4 stroke as likely then the oil may be leaking at the seals to the main. (bad news)
Pressure wash it (lol) and locate the leak,
to speed up the leak you can pump some compressed air into the engine (be creative)

Sounds like a faulty seal around the gun. Repair might be few bucks if you take it in. But the price of the part is probably under a buck. Depends if you want to rip apart it yourself.

SOURCE: how to change oil in a pressure washer

From the manual CleanShot 2050 Briggs and Stratton

Change Pump Oil
1. Drain engine oil and fuel from pressure washer
2. Use an 8 mm allen wrench to remove black pump oil cap between high pressure outlet and garden hose inlet.
3. Tiltl pressure washer to drain oil into an approved container until it drips slowly from pump.
4.Tilt pressure washer in opposite direction and empty premeasured pump oil bottle into same opening (a small funnel may be helpful) [THIS IS WHAT THE MANUAL SAYS-NOT CLEARLY WRITTEN IN MY OPINION OR WRITTEN BY SOMEONE FOR WHOM ENGLISH IS A SECOND LANGUAGE]
5. Install black pump oil cap and tighten firmly.
6. Set pressure washer in upright position. Add fuel and engine oil.

From the engine manual use synthetic 5w-30, 10w-30 from -20 degrees F to temperature of 100 degrees F.
Change oil after 5 hours of operation initially. Before tipping to drain oil, remove fuel from fuel tank by running until tank is empty. Remove oil cap and dipstick and tip engine. Keep spark plug side up. Or remove drain plug from the bottom of pressure washer with a ratchet and square extension and drain oil from bottom. (fuel does not have to be removed)

Will not build up pressure sounds like it is but as soon as you hit the trigger pressure goes away

Is this something new happening?

These machines quickly (a matter of seconds) build up to pressure and shut off. A slow leak is not much of a player. Eventually the pressure will bleed off and the pump come on (for a few seconds).

Pressure restored, should be good to go. Have you cleaned the inline filter to the hose. If there is a short burst of water then a dribble with a new hose, the filter is a first check

Why is oil leaking from air cleaner?

this is usually due to an oil overfill situation. You most likely added the full quart of oil into the crankcase on setting it up without checking the actual oil level periodically as you fill it. Recheck and drain out the excess as needed.

Hi. I'm scratch building a pressure washer using a Comet BXD2831G pump. If I don't plan on using any type of detergent, is it OK (or manditory) to plug the detergent intake to keep it from sucking...

No need to plug the injector because under pressure (internal force/pressure) keeps valve shut. It only opens when large nozzle (black tip) is used lowering internal pressure causing siphon effect. Some chemical injectors have a thumbwheel to shut off flow completely. Your plug idea will keep the opening clean for later use. You can adjust pressure by ear. Your pump will take a 6.5 hp engine to develop max pressure of 2700 psi, however, to extend the life of the pump and engine, adjust pressure to about 75 % of capacity or about 2000 psi. To develop 6.5 hp your engine must turn at about 3600 rpm which is over the max rpm of the pump 3400rpm. The rpm of the engine is usually set by using the appropriate governor spring. Easy task, by using the model number and type of the engine, you can determine the proper governor spring and placement on the throttle arm, maybe about 3000 rpm would be sufficient. Now with engine rpm set, turn pressure adjustment up until engine sounds to you like at full labor, then adjust down to a workable pressure for majority of work and turn up for stubborn debris. Good luck with your project.

Pressure washer that leaks oil through the air breather

Most likely your air filter is plugged or dirty, or the crank case vent valve needs to be cleaned.if it still does it check that the oil level is at the full mark, if overfilled it would cause the same problem.
