Question about Washing Machines
My washer won't turn on when I push power. The outlet is good. If I unplug the machine for thirty seconds and then plug it back in, immediately it powers on - I don't have to push the power button. Unplugging and replugging it in is the only way that I can use it? Any suggestions?

Had same problem. Followed advice on post (i.e., remove bottom panel three screws, unscrew filter cap (have lots of towels cause it will drain), remove filter and voila!). Found one sock, a quarter, and some other junk clogging the drain. Saved $55 house service call. Thanks all!

SOURCE: I have a whirlpool duet
I have the same problem. I contacted Whirlpool, they said to call an electrician. Electrician said it was a MOTOR CONTROL BOARD. My price to fix in Fl. was $430.00, $400 for part and 30 labor. I had a coupon other wise it would have been right at $500. Hope this helps!

Remove the bottom panel which would give you access to the pump area if you look up along the side that the door lock is on you will see a cord with a loop on it pull this cord and the door would open. The panel must be removed in order to locate this pull cord. If you have any further questions message me back and please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future Thanks Rick
p.s if after you open the door and you were to leave the unit unplugged for 7 minutes if the error did not go away or if the door once again locked up you would have no choice but to replace the door lock assembly on the unit Thanks again Rick
