I have redeemed a 25$ gift card ... it worked and everything but when I found the thing I wanted to in the itunes store it would not allow me to buy it. When clicking "buy" I would have to change my billing information! I have 25$ already ... why do I need to redeem another code or buy with a credit card??
In order to fix this problem, go to billing info, and when it lets you choose the credit card method, choose the option "none" then it will let you use your gift card. Otherwise it assumes you want to use a credit card. Hope this helps.

The basic process is to Open the iTunes Store, App Store or iBooks Store then scroll to the bottom of the 'Featured' section. There you will find a Redeem button. With this you can even use your camera to scan the barcode or enter the code manually. If successful you will see the updated balance at the bottom of your 'Featured' page under your Apple ID. If it was for content then it will start downloading.
You may have to enter the number of the card or voucher into Amazon first. If you have an account you may do this from my account pages.
Otherwise when you are "checking out", select the method of payment to be Amazon gift voucher (or whatever it is) and enter the voucher number when prompted. If it more than covers the price of the item you want to buy it will keep the extra as credit again yor next anticipated purchase. You cannot take the remainder as cash. If the voucher is not enough, it will prompt you for a method of payment to make up the deficit. If you have entered the voucher details in the my account pages I believe the default method of paying is by the voucher, which will be automatically selected when you check out (but there is a unprompted opportunity to change it). Your voucher/gift card has an expiry date.
This can be from multiple causes. The first that comes to mind is the most common. If there is a problem with your credit card on file, or if there was a purchase you made that your credit card declined, iTunes will place a block on the account until the balance is paid. It will even block you from getting free content. Simply add a new card to your iTunes Store account or redeem a gift card & the balance will be taken care of. Which will allow you to use your account again.
You should not be prompted to re-enter in your iTunes Gift Card. Once you redeem it to your account, the full amount on the card is transferred over to your account and the card is then just a piece of plastic.

First way around the 1202 error is a pretty easy fix. Right click on
"redeem" on the itunes home page. It will give you a choice to open or
copy - choose "copy this link". Then paste it into a new internet
explorer window. Accept the security prompt then it should load up the
space to put your code in.
Second fix is also simple just CHECK YOUR COMPUTERS SYSTEM DATE AND TIME. If not correct then adjust and should be you sorted.
