Hello, It's a driver related issue or the touchpad is locked. Unlock it. Each computer has it's own way on how to unlock the touchpad. Please provide me with the model of your computer so that I can provide you with the correct steps. You can also scan your computer with RadarSync so that you will know if the drivers are out-of-date especially the touchpad driver. Your touchpad stops working if the driver is out-of-date so you might want to check RadarSync.
OK to disable you Touchpad you can press Fn + F12 or you can go to Control panel...Search for devices...or you can go to Device Manager. In the menu Look for sp/1 or sp/2 it will have your installed components or drive information for you mouse pad/touch pad. You can right click it and disable it. Also if you are having problems with you Touch Pad you can also download the driver and re-install in on your drive.
Please reinstall the Touch Pad driver once and make sure that that the Touch pad is enabled in the Startup. Also, kindly provide the model # of the Computer. Some Computers will have the special Application to maintain devices such as Wireless, Touchpad etc
Touchpads have a cursor lock that suspend the use of the touch pad but
allow you to use a mouse. Ensure that the cursor lock is not on. That
lock is a thin strip just about the touch pad. Usually, it will light
up when it's turned on. If you have that lock in the off position then I
would not recommed that you go probing inside your laptop to relsove
this issue. You should take your laptop to a qualified tech for repair.
You might have accidently turned off the touchpad software or driver.
Use the RESTORE section of SYSTEM TOOLS in the ACCESSORIES folder of
your Program Files.
Good Luck, and Happy Computing.
