Sounds like you might need some drivers, what sound card and operating system do you have? If the Sound is on the motherboard then what model motherboard or computer do you have?

goto control panel, you will see your volume icon in there, tick the box to show on desktop so you can see a speaker icon next to your clock (bottom right side of your desk top) and check there to see if slider is up, hope this helps.

You need to go to the website for the maker of you computer, find the section where "drivers" are available for download (often under a tag named "support") then find the audio driver for your model and operating system (in your case XP), download the file and simply run it. You should not need to do any more than that to fix this problem. In the old days it was recommended to un-install faulty software (drivers) first, but audio driver installation in XP on a modern laptop should just go on with no complications.

Hi,

There is no "key" for SP3, its just an update.

Just click on the start menu and perform a Windows/Microsoft Update to install SP3 and then perform another update to update SP3.

Hi.
Your model of Presario has an audio controller that supports the high definition audio. You need to have Microsoft Universal Audio
Architecture(UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio installed on the computer before installing the audio drivers. After installing the UAA drivers restart the notebook and then install
the audio drivers. After Audio drivers installation,U have to folllow the steps.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location".
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install".
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp***** folder and select the .inf (wisxxxx) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
