SOURCE: ipod disabled connect to itunes

you can reset its password....but you'll lose all your data here's how...

  1. Verify you have iTunes 7.5 or later. Apple recommends using the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
  3. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
  4. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB to iPhone, the device should then power on.

Note: If you see the message "Charging... Please Wait" or you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least 10 minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
  5. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
  6. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPhone and repeat steps 3-6.

I brought a previous owned ipod touch whzt do i do to get password changed and then apply my own password and new name ?

First of all download Itunes if you haven't done that already. Open itunes, connect your Ipod to the ccomputer with the USB cord, a message will come up saying "iTunes could not connect to the ipod because it is locked with a passcode". press cancel. Unplug your ipod from the USB cord.
Now shut down the ipod, hold in the home button at the bottom and connect the USB cable back up, keep holding the home button down and you will see a picture of a USB cable and iTunes on your ipod screen. iTunes will say it has detected an ipod in recovery mode and would you like to restore it to factory settings? Click restore and sit back for a few minutes until it restores everything to factory settings. Your ipod will reboot and iTunes will detect it. Now with iTunes still open look under devices click on the little ipod icon and then click on the name and you can add your name and press enter. Press the little triangle next to the name you added to disconnect fron iTunes and unplug the USB cable. As for adding a new passcode, go into your ipod and go to settings on your ipod and go to general and go to passcode. its only a 4 number combination.
I hope this helped.
Cheers Rob

My cousin gave me her ipod touch before she died and i dont know the password. what do i do?

Sorry to hear about your cousin ...
You will need to do a 'Hard reset' on the ipod touch: instructions can be found on the Apples manufacturer site but it goes like the following:

- While plugged into ITunes, Hold down the power and home keys down for 10+ seconds. - - Screen will go black
- Release the power button but keep holding the home key until itunes says 'We have detected an itouch in recovery mode'
- Restore as normal via iTunes

Hope it helps!

Setup assistant won't appear

they is no setup assistant in itunes.
when your ipod mounts to itunes the first thin you will see is the summary page which shows an ipod and allows you to change the name.
on the left you will see your ipod and folders appear in the blue shaded column.
so hook it up and enjoy.
Warning: if you sync the ipod to your computer it will delete everything except what actually came from your computer.

IPod Touch

Hey mpCvitak,

According to information provided by the manufacturer, when the incorrect passcode is repeatedly entered your iPod Touch will become disabled for longer and longer intervals. Eventually you will only be able to attempt entering the passcode again by syncing the iPod with your computer.

Unfortunately, syncing an iPod to a computer that does not have your iTunes library present removes all the content from your iPod's memory. To avoid this, iTunes 7 and later versions offer a way for you to transfer the files that you purchased through the iTunes music store to that computer, by authorizing it to be used with your iTunes account. Please keep in mind though that this may only apply to the files that you purchased and downloaded through iTunes itself.

Alternatively, you may always attempt a system restore. System restores return your iPod to the original factory settings, but all the information that you have loaded onto it may be erased (including your selected password). If you're not quite sure how to perform a system restore, you can find step-by-step instructions by visiting the following link:

Hope this helps you out.

Little kid locked my i pod and didnt know what code he put in

plug it into your comp and iTunes will unlock it for you
This support document also provides additional information on locking and unlocking the iPod. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod by doing the following:
Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize

good luck
