You computer does not connect directly to your printer. It connect via your router, so you need to make sure that your router and the printer is connect using the WPS function or entering the routers control and panel. Alternatively uninstall the software for the printer and re-sintalle. Hello, you could opt for the USB connection. Plug one end of the cable into the USB port on your computer. After, plug in the power cable and turn on the printer.

solution :
1. Uninstall driver printer and remove Printer USB cable from computer. After uninstall finish, restart printer.
2. Reinstall driver printer (don't connect printer USB cable to computer). Wait for the install process, until message "connect a printer USB cable to computer". After message appear, connect printer USB cable to computer.
3. Wait process install finish and try to print.

I think IP address is not a problem in your printer. You just need to check if the printer driver is install to make your printer work...
IP address is only use to connect the computer to the internet not to connect with the printer. If you have a printer connect to other computer you really need to configure the IP of both the pc to connect each other...
Router will automatically assign IP address of those computer connected to a routers. If you still not connect

If you use a wireless USB print server like this . Keep in mind that you may not get all functions such as scanning to work but it will allow for printing for sure. If the scanning works consider it a bonus.

What operating system are you using? If it is xp it is very easy. Right click on your printer on x computer and click sharing and share it with an easy name like HP Laser, then on y computer open run command by going to start and run and in there you will type in \\xcomputer name which you can get by right clicking on my computer on x computer and choose computer name. once this is typed in run on y computer press ok and you will get window with some shared folders and also a printer. Just double click on printer and it will ask you to install drivers and it will connect but your x computer has to be on to be able to print from y computer.Same principle with 2 vista computers.
