What's the best cleaning machine or method

We love our new "wood" like tile floor, but find the "wood grains" are difficult to clean, a mop leaves behind a thin layer of mud. We are looking for a cleaning machine Please help! Thanks in advance

Machine or methods are different from work to work. We can not use technology for cleaning carpet in floor cleaning. We will see what you want to clean?http://housecleaning.ie

Use a steam mop with a little vinager don't use anything soapy like Mr. clean that will only streak and cling the dirt to the grout

I have a chalk like residue/grit on my tile floor. I've mopped it several time and when I wipe my hand on the floor it feels rough and a white residue gets on my hand.

What you are feeling is the grout that is used to fill in between the tiles. There is always some residual grout. If it is a new floor then this is to expected and you can use a sponge to clean it. IF not the you are looking at re-routing it

How to Clean a Tile Floor and Grout when nothing else seems to work.

What you need is Cleaning Paste, a Scrub Brush, an Enviro Cloth and water. The picture shows a before and after. After years of mopping the floor with the traditional cleaning products, dirt had discolored both the tile and grout. I was down to needing to decide to start over by replacing the floor, or give it one last try. I had seen and heard about this product from a friend who I purchased the products from but I didn't really know if it was hype or truly something new that would work.

It restored my kitchen floor to like new! I never thought it would work but for the $50 it would cost in products if it worked, I wouldn't have to pay Thousands to put in a new floor.

I simply scrubbed on the cleaning paste using water and a scrub brush. Let if sit for a minute or two and wiped up the floor with my EnviroCloth. It took a little bit of time to do the whole kitchen but for me, it was definitely worth it!

I purchased these products from www.ChristineFrey.Norwex.biz
The Cleaning Paste has more then just floor cleaning possibilities.

Home Flooring - Some Great Suggestions

If you're moving home or just doing some renovations, you might be faced with the question of what flooring to choose.
There are so many different options other than just plain carpet in a house, but each choice comes with pros and cons.
Here's my basic guide to flooring choices.

  • Carpet:
Okay, so carpet gets a really bad rap as being very 70s but put in the right environment, I still believe that carpet can be a great asset.
Even though it might seem expensive, you can get really good sale offers on carpet, depending on the season.
Also carpet is very hard wearing and so a good option if you're looking for a long term flooring solution that won't need replacing too quickly.
What I love about carpet is its softness, so it's great in cold countries or for rooms where you want to bring a softer more soothing look to the design.
The problem with carpet though is how it gets stained very easily and can be harder to clean. I sometimes worry that despite all the vacumming and carpet cleaning, carpets might be hiding a lot of dirt underneath.

  • Hardwoods:
Hardwoods are the latest trend in flooring. The costs really vary depending on the quality of wood that you go for.
Installation is also important - it not only costs money for the installation but needs to be done by a professional as hardwood flooring isn't something you can experiment with.
Hardwood floors look great and are much easier to clean than carpet. I find that some hardwood floors are a bit loud to walk on but putting rugs down can help with that.
Lounges look amazing with hardwood floors and modern furniture.

  • Tiling:
Tiled floors look wonderful but it's not a cheap material for flooring a large area and requires a big investment of time and money to install.
Personally I love tilling in bathrooms and kitchens and as it's water resistant it's perfect for rooms where spillages are a common occurance.

I suggest that you look around showrooms. Don't limit yourself to one style of flooring thoughout the whole house. You can mix and match between hardwood flooring and carpets.
Have Fun!

Streaks on porcelein tile from shark steam mop

Try washing your pads in JUST water and Baking soda or Borax (and only about a tbs). Sounds like a hard water problem. I had the same issue with my wood floors so I put some Murphy's Oil in a spray bottle and it polished my floors while I steamed. Perhaps there is a good tile cleaner/polish you can spray with a spray bottle while you mop? Just a suggestion. I haven't had this particular issue with tile (our floors are concrete and wood) but the streaks went away when I started using just Borax in my laundry with them, no fabric softener, no dryer sheets. My mom used to use Isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle with her steam mop. Make sure your tile is well seeled too, it gives you a better finish. The alcohol dries on it's own too without leaving residue.

How to Clean Tile Grout?

First mop the floors to get loose dirt up, use a stiff cleaning brush ( they make small versions of toilet bowl brushes. Toothbrushes are to flimsy.) I usually use tylex to clean grout it does have bleach in it. TO keep it clean after all that hard work put down a coat of grout sealant.

I would like the operating manual for home tek steam cleaner

HI...........................

Couldn't see a manual on their web page, but you can try emailing them http://www.hometekinternational.co.uk/contact.htm

Home-tek Steam Mop Instructions

The Home-tek steam mop is designed for use on tile, vinyl and wood laminate flooring. This type of mop works a bit differently than your regular cleaning mop, as it uses steam to safely sanitize your hard flooring surfaces while removing stuck-on buildup.
Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Micro-fiber pad
    • 1 Open the cap of the water reservoir. This is located at the base of the unit, at the top of the reservoir, and twist it off.
    • 2 Pour tap water into the unit until you meet the fill line; water temperature makes no difference.
    • 3 Make sure a micro-fiber pad is attached to the bottom of the unit. This will be included with your purchase, and you may need to replace the pads over time if they wear or become heavily soiled. Replacements can be purchased from the manufacturer. If you need to attach the pad to the steam-cleaning unit, position the shape of the pad so it matches the base of the unit and snap into place on all four corners.
    • 4 Turn on the power switch with your foot. The switch is located at the bottom back side of the unit.
    • 5 Push the steam mop over the hard floor surface, pushing the steam trigger as needed at the top of the handle. Continue until your floor is cleaned to your liking.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm considering a steam mop. Do you know if they

I dont know if you are in the U.S or U.K If you are in the U.K there is a model called the Hometek Light n Easy. Its suitable for hard floor cleaning but poor on carpets. Generally most steam cleaners with carpet attachments dont do very much unless you consider premium machines such as Polti
