Check the connection leads, make sure they are securely fastened to the motherboard, it sounds like there is no communication from the laptop to the screen.

My laptop screen went very dark, I can barely make out whats on the screen but I know its working. What can I do to fix this situation on my gateway p-6860fx pc notebook?

Hi josue fernan...
You need to see if your laptop lcd screen is faulty and/or the lcd inverer is faulty.
1....Test the lcd screen:
Hook your laptop to an outside monitor and then start your laptop normally...if the picture on the external monitor is good, then your lcd screen is bad.
2....Backlight Faulty: If the monitor is still as dark like your lcd screen on the laptop then it could be the backlight that is faulty.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

When i start my laptop it's screen appears black, processor looks working but no visual at all.what to do?

hi

the screen maybe the issue where you have to replace the LCD panel.. to verify intergrity of the LCD screen operation of this Dell , plug an extrenal monitor to the back of the Dell notebook. If you can view everything clearly on the externalk monitor , then i am sorry to say the LCD panel of the dell notebook must be replaced with new one.

i found same issue on Dell site , someone lese has same issue.

The backlight on my laptop went out and i want to know how to go about fixing it, or how much it might cost to have it fixed?

If you don't mind spending under $20 and have a couple of small screwdrivers and 2 hours to kill, it's not too complicated.
To replace the backlight, you'll need to disassemble the entire lid (often you can't get the lid of the laptop off without removing some covers and the keyboard on the main body). Keep those screws separate and labeled (I use an egg carton when I'm working on a new laptop, and often take a few pictures with a digital camera if I have one handy, especially if it has a macros feature for zooming in close).

Once you have the whole screen assembly (the entire lid and screen) off the main body, you'll need to disassemble it, then REMOVE the LCD completely.

NOTE --BEFORE you disassemble the entire LCD (or even somtimes remove if from the frame) to get to the backlight, unplug the current inverter (that long thin circut board with usually a plug at each end) and plug the new backlight into the inverter. Power on the laptop- bulb comes on? Great- you got the right part- it IS the backlight that burnt out!--

So pull the LCD out, then pull the tape and any tiny screws, saving both, and check the bottom area -usually the backlight is under a silver metal "tray" piece on the bottom of the LCD. It's a tiny long flourescent light bulb, with wires at each end.
Pull that out, and replace with the new one.

BEFORE you reassemble, plug the inverter in again (the little circut board you found in the LCD lid) and power the laptop on for a moment- after a few seconds you SHOULD see the bulb light up! Keep checking briefly as you assemble the laptop again- making sure you have everything plugged in correctly BEFORE you get all those screws back and tightened down!

Usually to have a shop do it can cost as much as a new LCD on Ebay -at least $60~120 USD. A backlight is about $15 and a new inverter maybe a bit less on ebay.

:D

Acer aspirw 5100 brightness

1.The Function key (Fn), and the F6 key are pressed to turn the Backlight off to conserve power.

2.The Fn key and the right side arrow key, are pressed to increase Brightness.

You have a TFT LCD monitor screen. (Thin Film Transistor)
The LCD screen cannot be seen clearly without a Backlight.

The Backlight is a CCFL. Cold Cathode Fluorescent
tube. Resembles a small fluorescent tube used in residential, and commercial lighting.

The Backlight can go bad after time, and weaken.
If so, it will have to be replaced.

Sounds easy, it isn't.

The TFT LCD monitor screen is made up of layers. It's enclosed in a thin metal frame. Resembles a picture frame.

The frame is removed, after removing the LCD screen from the laptop's top cover.

The LCD screen transparent outside layers, are separated partially from the rest of the LCD screen.
The Backlight is removed out of the side.

This gives you an example of removing, and replacing an average Backlight,

Acer 5515 backlight not working also bootmanager missing

You need to fix the boot manager problem first by connecting an external monitor to the laptop so you can see and do a system repair.

As for the backlight problem :-
You could have a faulty CCFL lamp or inverter, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
