SOURCE: hower do you do the adjusting for height on the

The dial only sets the height or the total deck, it is more of a stop than an adjuster.

If it seems too low in the front, you can adjust it by tightening the nuts on the 2 bolts/pins that are attached to the deck and the frame.

First of all, though, check your tire pressures, 10 psi in the rear and 14 psi in the front. If front pressures are too low, this will make a huge difference in your cut. You want to adjust the bolts an equal amount to maintain your side to side level keeping in mind that it should have 1/4 to 1/2 " difference front to rear.

Make your adjustments on your driveway or garage floor so you have a flat level surface to go by.

If you make these adjustments and it still scalps, you will either have to set the deck to cut a bit higher or approach the high spots from a different angle or remember to lift the deck up a bit with the handle when you get to those areas

Hope this solves your problem

SOURCE: the deck on my mower is lower on one side than the

To adjust a Craftsman deck, raise the deck to the normal cutting height.
Measure to the flange on the deck on the right & left sides. It is easier to lower the deck than to raise it, so, on the high side, find the threaded rod that supports the deck. Using a wrench, back off of the nut (counterclockwise as viewed from the end of the rod) until both the left & right sides of the deck are the same height.
Be sure your tires are properly inflated before measuring.

Try setting in the extreme opposite direction. If that does not do it then the adjuster is stuck in the lowest position. Check your manual.

Craftsman riding mower 17hsp. older model, how to adjust mower deck, it scalps my lawn.

which one, there are a few ways to adjust it,1,there is a knob on the side by your foot with a gauge in inches, turn that to raise it to the desired height, with your release lever down, that is where you want to check for height,if that doesnt work, pick deck all the way up,unbolt each wheel and drop them down to the bottom hole, try that,if it still isnt right, there are 2 bars on the front of the deck, they should be in the middle holes, you can tighten them a little, but, that will affect the drive belt, dont play with those unless the nose is too low,if none of that works, there are 2 bars that clip tp the deck and hang on 2 bolts it is the lift system, you can tighten the bolts on those to lift the deck also.if i knew the number i would be able to have pics and diagrams for you,i believe it is, Craftsman 917.27318

Mower deck adjustment

you may have bent brackets in the front. These are the pieces that straddle front and back of the front axle beam. This happens when you hit things sticking up or on the side with the deck.
You also could have bent deck link bars (where you make height adjustment on the front).

Front wheels on manual mower lock when pushing for awhile.

1 Locate the height adjustment lever on the inside of the left rear wheel.
2 Kneel next to the mower and push the left height adjustment lever toward the center of the mower. This will unlock the lever from the locking pin on which the height is currently set.

3Rotate the lever toward the front of the mower to lower the height of cut, or toward the rear of the mower to raise the height of cut.

4 Release the lever over the locking pin closest to the desired height of cut.

5 Repeat these steps with the adjustment lever on the right-side rear wheel. Be sure to set the right wheel lever to the same position as the left-side wheel's lever for an even cut.
