Question about Panasonic TC-L26X1 26 in. HDTV LCD

TC-L26x1 No picture at all

My TC-L26X1 has no picture. Always worked perfectly, was turned off for a week while my son was away, never came back on. Nothing appears on the screen, no back lighting, nothing... just black. The power light comes on (red in front) and the digital audio out lights up red... but that is it. I cannot select inputs and nothing happens... just black, not even light comes from the screen. Any ideas where to start? This is way out of warranty, but has been hardly used as it is in my son's room and he only really uses it at night for several hours. He really likes this due to the ipod dock, so I would like to repair this, just no idea where to start. Thanks!

You must count the red light blinks. This will indicate where the trouble is located.

I dropped it. Why is the picture just squiggles?

My son once dropped our tablet and everything became fluted. I took the tablet to Samsung but having been overseas and the tablet was purchased in America they could not fix it as the parts needed could not be obtained.
I had 2 options. I could either throw it away and lose all my files or try to fix following an intensive Google search. I chose the latter.
I found a YouTube video in which the man walks you step by step in taking it apart and repairing several issues. Once I had the back removed, I found several 5pin wires in which they were all aligned perfectly with the exception of one. I carefully pushed it so that it became aligned, turned it on... and had a perfectly working tablet again. I am not sure if its safe for you to do this as I have always read the warning labels advising to never remove the back so not to be electro shocked but it might be worth you doing some research and seeing if its possible.

Panasonic TC-P42X1 acts like it is turning on, the screen turns black, then the tv shuts itself off and back on again.

Rule out any loose contacts in power outlet, RC Jack, cables and connectors. The problem described by you calls for opening the back cover and further investigation, which should only be done by a qualified service technician.

Panasonic TC-L26X1 TV suddenly stopped working - first as a display for my dvd player, then for my pc & now at all! everything I've done seems to make it worse (resetting, etc.) now, when it comes...

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both. In your case I'd concentrate on the power input board.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
