The troybuilt rototiller is a "tuffy" small one 4hp that has performed very well. It has never failed to start until last November. I changed the spark plug this week and checked oil and gas but it would not fire up.
The most likely culprit is a clogged carb - a very common problem indeed on Tecumseh motors. Pull the carb off, open it up, spray everything with cheap carb cleaner (especially the bottom "bolt" that hold the float cover making sure it sprays out of at least two sides as that "bolt" is also the jet), make sure everthing lines back up as you pulled it apart and now try to start it up again! Bet it works, I see it all the time on small engines left with small amounts of gas in the system. Good luck, and I hope that gets ya runnin!
#1 what engine is on it(make,hp) #2 can you work on small engines...?

To goodluck 420, Thanks for the tip. I found out that the problem was the air filter, which did not seem to be dirty, in fact, was unable to be cleaned. When I got a new one and installed it, the troybuilt started right up. I had not used it that much but it was enough to need a new filter.
Well, first things first. Do you know if you have spark at the spark plug? if not, it is probably your magneto. they sometimes rattle loose and need to be re-set. Let me know if you have spark or not and we can take it from there. Thanks.
