Kenmore canister power head not working?

Without more info, I would investigate the drive belt, make sure the beater bar is free to spin (no hair or carpet fibers twisted onto the moving parts), and then check that the power is getting to the motor of the power head. Most often it is hair/fibers that collect around the ends of the beater bar. This causes the belt to stall, heat up and stretch due to the drive motor shaft spinning on one spot because the belt can't move. After removing twisted hair/fibers, you probably only need to replace the belt.

Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum -Model 116 22812200.

hello... you might want to try checking the elbow or neck of the power nozzle for blockage. Remove the wand from the head and look through it. Also look through the wands . If there is no blockage, maybe there is a problem with you nozzle. Reattach all the parts and turn on the machine, turn on the power nozzle. Can you hear the other motor start? If so, check to see if the belt is turning. If it is not, and you definitely hear the secondary motor, then you need a belt. If it doesn't make any sound then, with the machine still running, press the button on the upper part of the power nozzle, this should reset your motor. I hope these tips helped ya, let me know, by giving feedback when asked. thank you, Rene (The Vacuum Doctor)

Motor on our kenmore progressive agitator is not

Look for a reset button on the motor and press it in. If it clicks, then it was tripped. An excessive load on the motor can make the reset trip. Try turning the motor shaft to make sure that it is not bound up. Run the machine empty for a short time to see if it works. Good luck!

Burning smell from motor...what needs replaced?

Without the complete model number, I don't know for sure what componets you have, most likely is the motor. You will have to take the motor cover off and check it out. You can go to sears.com, click on parts, enter your complete model number, scroll down to cannister and it will bring up a parts list where you can order parts, also a diagram of the cannister.

Kenmore 23513 canister vacuum won't turn off

Is there two switches for the unit, one for the handle (pick up unit) and brush assembly, and one for the vacuum motor? If so it seems that the handle unit is o.k. but the problem may be the switch to the vacuum motor. I would suggest testing the vacuum motor switch with an ohm meter for continuity through the switch. If its at fault replace it. You can probably purchase one from Sears or maybe Radio Shack.
Good Luck!
p.s. do not work on vacuum if plugged in.

Vacuum won't come on

The switch in the hose maybe bad, motor problem, or some of these cannisters have a relay mounted by the motor, it may be bad.
