I can't connect my wii to my wifi

Using your computers wireless manager, or an ethernet cable if applicable, connect to the Cradlepoint router.

Open your browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of your browser.

Entering the last 6 characters of the MAC address will get you into the Admin level of the router.

Go to the Tools tab and select 'User Login' from the menu on the left of the screen.

Find 'Require User Login' and uncheck the box. (Earlier Firmware versions will find this box under the Basic tab, click 'wireless'.

Click 'Save Settings' at the top of the page, leave this page open as we will return to it later.

Turn on the power to your Wii

Now search for an access point on the Wii consoles main menu, just click on the Wii button in the lower left hand corner.

Now click on Wii Settings

Clicking on the blue arrow on the right side will take you to a second settings screen.

Select Internet, select Connection Settings, select None, select Wireless Connection, then 'Search for an Access Point'.

The Wii should search for wireless routers within range and display a list, choose your router from the list and click OK.

If you previously selected a security level for the router there will be a padlock icon next to the name and you must enter the same settings in the Wii that you entered into the Cradlepoint.

Click 'Save' and then click 'OK' but DO NOT choose OK to start a connection test!

Back on your computer, click on the Advanced tab on top and select Gaming from the menu on the left of the screen.

Under 'ADD GAME RULE' be certain that the 'Enable:' box is checked, and in the box next to 'Name:' type in "Nintendo Wii",

Next to 'TCP Ports to open:' type 80, 443, 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920 (exactly with commas)

Next to 'UDP ports to open:' type 1-65535 (exactly again). Click 'Save'

Return to your Wii and click on 'Choose OK to start a connection test'.

If you are still having difficulties (Wifi only), Nintendo tech support has recommended changing the channel of the router to either 1 or 11

  • 1Before you connect Nintendo Wii to wireless Internet, set up your Wii console according to the manufacturer's directions.
  • 2Turn on the Nintendo Wii and wait for the main menu to appear.
  • 3Using the Wii remote, point and click on the small Wii button in the bottom left corner.
  • 4Select Wii settings.
  • 5In the bottom right corner click the black square with the number 2 in it or use the right directional arrow to go to the next page. When you come to "Internet" click it.
  • 6To connect Wii to the Internet select "Connection Settings."
  • 7On the next screen select the first connection that says "none."
  • 8On the following page, when given the option for wired connection or wireless Internet, select "wireless."
  • 9Now it's time for your Wii to search for a wireless connection. To do this choose "search for an access point."
  • 10Press "okay" and find the name of your wireless Internet. If it's not on the first page, arrow down until you find it. If you need a password to access the Internet, you will be asked to enter it. Click okay.
  • 11Click save and okay so the Wii remembers the wireless Internet connection options for the future.
  • 12Finalize the Wii Internet connection process by testing the wireless connection.
  • 13When Wii's wireless Internet test finishes successfully, you're ready to play Wii online.

If you have Wireless MAC Filter Enabled on the Router then Either ADD the Wireless MAC Address of the Wii on the router or disable the Wireless MAC Filter on the router, also check the level of the Wireless Security supported by the Wii and accordingly set it up on the Router.

Can't connect DSi with same security as comps

hello, yes i had the same problem, but i had it with many other computers, the way i solved it was going into the router settings and click the "restore default settings" then turned the router off for 15 seconds (for a fresh reboot) then when i had to set everything up again i got all my computers on the router and im able to add more without running into that same problem once again, or for a simpler solution try disconnecting the wireless on the computers and replugging them in.... that works sometimes as well

    Wii connection issues.

You can check if the problem is with the internet connection going to the Wii or just the wireless connection.

When you loose connection, check the Wii's ip address. If it does not have an ip address(or ip is 169.xx.xx.xx) that means that the Wii is disconnecting from the wireless network. You can then try other wireless channels on your router.

If the Wii is still getting an ip of 192.168.x.x, that means that the problem is the internet from the router. You might need to forward ports on the router for your Wii.
