How do I set up the Wii to the internet?I keep getting error code 51031

That error code is usually linked to your Wii's MAC address not being added to the MAC accepted list on your router.

To do this it depends on what router you have, but for most, you can have a direct link from your computer to your router.
Open a internet browser and go to (
On most routers this will be its set up page, you have to go to the wireless page and add your Wii's MAC # in there.

Your Wii's MAC address is located in the 'Console information' Wii page

You should just do this after your done....

1) Power on your Wii, go to the settings menu (by clicking the little Wii button in the channel menu)
2) Scroll over to 'internet settings'
3) Select 'connections', and pick 1, 2, or 3
4) In there select 'search for wireless access point'
5) Pick your router, enter your key (password) for your router if you have one.
6) Test the connection

The wii shopping channel wont open so i can download netflix

You may need to update your wii console in order for you to get to the wii shop. Try a system update from the system menu and then try again with the wii shop. I hope this helps!

My wii system can't connect to my wireless Internet. It has an error code of 51032. What does that mean? It has also been connected to my wireless before, it won't make the connection now

Check to see if your router has a firewall. It might be blocking the signal from the wii. The Wii can't work though firewalls from routers.

Also your router should have something called MAC settings. Get your wii MAC number and add it to your router's list of MAC users. You need to activate your routers MAC settings for this of course. Also any other wireless accessing devices (laptops etc) need to included via there MAC numbers in your routers MAC list.

I use a LINKSYS WRT54g2 so my info above should help.

Your issue is with the Wii wireless setup not the Netgear.
Please follow the wireless setup from Wii manual.

Cannot connect wii to router linksys wrt54g v8 i have switched my channels to 1 and 11. I have also updated my firmware to the newest version. I have also tried the manual setup but to no avail I have...

If you have Wireless MAC Filter Enabled on the Router then Either ADD the Wireless MAC Address of the Wii on the router or disable the Wireless MAC Filter on the router, also check the level of the Wireless Security supported by the Wii and accordingly set it up on the Router.

To change the settings on the router, you will need to open the set up page of the router. On this page you will find all the settings of the router. Do you have any computer connected to the router ? If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router. OPen the set up page on the wired computer and change the settings of the router.

Error 51330 on nintendo wii siemens gigaset se587 wlan used.

i have just solved this problem on the SE 587, hope it works for you.

1) in internet explorer type, which should bring up your router settings - then select "wireless" and then "basic wireless settings" - under "auto channel" set it to "disable" and the set "wireless channel" to "1" , then "save settings" - my pc briefly went offline and quickly came back.

2) when setting up the connection on the wii you need the code from the bottom of the router - make sure you have "caps lock" ON on the wii when you set up.

3) now everything works perfectly on the wii - you dont even need the pc on! just the router.

good luck, IAN.

Error Code 51331

Wii Error Code 51331 means there is a problem with wireless security.
Make sure your router’s WEP key matches the WEP Key you entered in the Wii.
If your router is using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be 10 characters.
For 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be 26 characters.
WEP Keys can only use the characters 0-9 and A-F.
If your router allows more than one WEP key to be entered at a time, make sure the key you’re using is on slot one.
If you double checked the WEP or WPA key with the router and the Wii and they match, but you still receive the Wii Error Code 51331, then MAC filtering may be enabled in the router. You will have to add your Wii’s MAC address to the router’s allowed list. You can do this by logging into your router and going to the “access control, access list, or network filter” settings.
If you still have trouble with Wii Error Code 51331, try changing the wireless router’s channel to 1 or 11. This may increase download speed.
Check Nintendo’s router page for special notes on your router if available. Follow the instructions of the special notes.
Your wireless router must broadcast in mixed or b/g mode and cannot be set to “g” only mode.
If you still encounter the Wii Error Code 51331, try doing manually setting up the Wii’s internet connection. You can find your network information to enter into the Wii by doing this:
On your PC, click “Start” and then “Run.”
Type “CMD” into the field that appears to open a new window.
Type “IPCONFIG/ALL” and press “Enter” to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.
Power cycle the wireless router and modem by unplugging both from the wall. After waiting a minute, plug the modem back in and wait another couple of minutes for the modem to initialize. Plug the router in and wait for the router to initialize. Now try reconnecting the Wii to Nintendo WiFi Connection.

Hope this helps a little

Wii online connection

There are three possibilites
1. The most failsafe encryption for the Wii is WEP. It probably has issues to confirm the encryption code
2. Your Wireless Router is not compatible. For some reason Wii hates Wireless N and pre-N routers. If you have one of them, make sure that you turn on the Wireless G compatible mode.
3.Your Wii connects but it is unable to gain IP address from the router's DHCP (automated ip assignment). So, you'd have to enter the IP and default gateway by hand on your Wii console.
You'll find those info from your Router's properties page.

It's a bit complicated i know... I hope I helped a bit.
