You should be able to pull up the menu by hitting the menu button on the tv, using the channel button to select different optionsand the volume button to change values and select CC and press the volume button to turn it off.

i have a phillips rear projection as well and this is what i had to do when i had this problem.....you just have to methodically work your way through the menu to make sure you dont miss it.

GOOD LUCK!! :D

Hey You Know What Scotty There Should Be A cc Button On Your Remote Just Hit It To Turn Them Off Or On. This Is Said Only To Work On The Original Remote So I Hope You Have It Still.
If You Dont Have The Remote Try Unplugging It In Hopes That The Factory Presets Will Return And It Will Be Turned Off From The Factory.
Sincerely,
Michael Scott

If you have the factory remote control the I would suggest acce ssing the main menu and then go through the options in the menu un til you either locate the language option or the subtitle option, and switching it to off, some remotes even come with the option to do this from the remote itself. mine did not so I also had to do it through the main menu.

Hi, the number isn't matching anything that I have. Are the subtitles appearing on regular tv, cable, or a dvd player, or what exactly? All things? Also is it a projection tv or lcd, anything that you can give to narrow down the tv is appreciated as each one will vary. Perhaps the year you bought it. Generally near the power cord you should find model information. Let me know.

Alright, Well, another way to get a number is if you remove the back panel, don't touch anything inside but look for numbers on the circuit board and other components and post them and I can try to narrow it down from this. If you don't feel comfortable doing this let me know and if you can describe the part or name the part you get the numbers off of that would be great.

Which remote are you using(universal remote/philips remote)?

If you are using Philips/Magnavox remote then go to PIP menu and turn off the CC option.

I have a 32" Magnavox

The set's model number is on a label on the rear of the set.

As far as a replacement remote do not bother with a universal as most of them do not work or have all the functions on a Philips product (Philips is Magnavox).

With a good model number either call Philips or someone like ANDREWS ELECTRONICS (They are in California but take orders and ship all over--with the model number they will come up with a part number for you and know if the remote is available or not.)

Let me know with a comment here if you have more questions, I am here to help.

your only chance will be find one at the local repair shops that may have saved some from sets they have scraped out, But they are hard to come by, and phillips have them as no longer available as do most manufactures shortly after that model lines goes out of production. Also try www.craigslist.org as they have chapters all over the world and often people give away dead sets, you may get lucky and find one.
