Question about Frigidaire FRS26KF5C Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Single door frig with top freezer

Doors don't shut snug. The big door doesn't close tight unless pushed, and I get a small amount of ice on the top of the freezer.
We had a repair person from Lowe's in last year and she leveled the door, but still have a little problem with it. Can I fix it myself, or do I have to get the repairlady in again?

What would make our maytag side by side drip water up top near the freezer side. I just noticed today that the door on frig side doesn't seem to be closing tight. Anything we can do?

not sure what is blocking your door from closing tight. there are adjustment screws on the top of the door hinges under the plastic caps that align the doors.(they are there on my maytag side by side). the water could be from some ice buildup in side the housing at the top of the inside of your fridge where the flap opens up to send cold air from the freezer to the fridge, especially if your door has not been closing properly that will ice up trying to keep the fridge cold. remove everything from your fridge, unplug it and take a blow dryer to that housing to remove any ice buildup on the flap then plug it back in. there are also diagnostic checks you can do using the temperature control buttons to test if the flap is working properly as well. they are in your owners manual.

If your refrigerator is fairly new, the seals probably are OK. More likely, the door alignment has to be adjusted.

Every time the top frig door is closed the bottom freezer door opens sometimes only 10 or 15mm so that the alarm does not detonate. The reverse also happens, ie top door opens when the bottom door is...

There is an air duct that connects the fridge to the freezer. When the opposite door is closed air is trapped and forced out the other door pushing it open.
The door seals contain a magnetic strip that hold the door to the fridge, these magnetic strips have lost their strength, to test this use a shhet of paper. Open the door, place the sheet of paper across where the door closes, shut the door, then slide the paper out. If the paper comes out without any resistance then the door seal needs to be replaced.

Refrigerator door left open for 11 days, now when closed it makes a loud vibrating noise, what could be the cause?

Hi,

Because the door was open a large amount of moisture would have been introduced to the evaporator. This moisture would condensate and freeze behind the back walls and cause ice build up on the fan motors and in the dampers. The best way to bring this back to normal is to turn the frig off for 24 hours with the doors open and food out of it. This will unthaw the ice. If you do not eliminate all the hidden frost and ice the frig will not operate to it's full potential.

Model gd25dfxfw00 Gold side by side; air appears to be leaking around the ice maker ejection door creating a build up of ice inside the freezer at the bottom of the icemaker ejection slot.

I had the same problem, same Whirlpool frig.

There's damper/delay arm/plunger, similar to what you see on doors, that slowly closes the ice door to allow all the ice to escape. This is stuck/broken. You can order the parts on line and replace it. I actually just removed it and the door closes nice and snug again, and no more ice build up in the chute. It occasionally traps ice in the chute, as the door shuts real quick now, before the last cube(s) can come out. I'm use to it now and am quick to open the door without sending more ice out of the maker.

The replacement kit should be : AP3595356

Top freezer door does not close tight

Sounds like the top hinge is loose. If the hinge has a cover, remove it then hold the door in the correct position and tighen the hinge screws.

Frigidaire FRT17G4BW9 doors not staying closed

Adjust the front legs of your refrigerator slightly to raise the refrigerator. and and store items on the freezer door shelves to add weight. This is a problem of pneumatics and a testament to how tight newer refrigerators are. When you close the large refrigerator door it compresses the air in the refrigerator compartment. Both compartments are connected by air passages and thus the pressure change is transferred to the freezer causing the freezer door to pop open.

Raising the front of the refrigerator a tiny bit will help both doors close from the 90 degree point, which is desirable. Adding weight to the shelf will just help the process.

An additional aid in self-closure will be to use vegetable oil on a paper towel to wipe down the hinge side face of both door seals. All these maneuvers should aid in causing the door to stay closed and re-close if it should open slightly. Good Luck

Freezer door won't stay shut

Could be the air pressure created from shutting the refer door is popping open the other one. There are are channels between the two so cool air from the freezer gets to the refer compartment. Try this as a test... s l o w l y close the refer door and see if that keeps the other door from popping open. If that works then it's likely an air channel is frozen up somewhere and you may need to turn the unit off for a day or so to let it thaw out. Moisture from leaking door seals, or doors that were left slightly open overnight can be sucked in and freeze up the air channels. I don't know if you are sort of slamming the door shut or not but the doors need to be shut slowly due to how air tight the new refers are.
