My Maytag Electric Range oven part will not heat over 200* ......

Hello, I have a Maytag Electric Range Model # MER5755QAW I went to bake a pizza at 425* but after a hour the oven temp only got to 200* ...I unpluged it from the wall, I turned off the breaker, still it did not work...The odd part is the Broiler works on both high and low settings...I called Maytag and they gave me three numbers of Repairmen to call, but they want 80 bucks just to come out and tell me whats wrong...That does not even include parts or labor !!! I found a site who sells Maytag parts and if it is possible to find out whats wrong I would like to be able to order the right part and repair it myself !!! If I pay 80 bucks plus parts and labor which they said could be 150 or more, Heck I might as well buy a New Stove !!! Please help me, I would greatly appreciate your expert advice, and Thank you in advance...M.E.F. Sr.

Yes, I have a volt/ ohm meter !! To clarify my issue I am having when I turn on my oven to the bake feature it will only heat to a max temp of 200* and thats it !!! The broiler is the only thing that works in the oven...As for the range it works fine as does the controlls...

Unplug the range.
Open the oven door.
Remove the racks.
Remove the 2 screws holding the bake element to the rear wall of the range.
Carefully pull the element from the access holes in the rear wall.
Remove the wires from the element.
With your meter set for continuity, put one lead on each element end.
If you get a reading it is good.

If it is good. Replace the wires and reinstall the element.

Pull the range out from the wall.
Remove the rear panels.
Plug the range back in.
Set your meter for 220volts or more.
Careful now because you are working with live voltage.
Set the oven for bake.
Put a lead on each element terminal to check voltage.
If you have 220 volts at the element, unplug the range and unplug the temperature sensor.
Set your meter for ohms.
Check the 2 leads on the temp sensor.
If at room temp the sensor is 1050 - 1100 it is OK. If not replace it.
If the temp sensor checks out OK, replace the ERC

Just went thru this with my GE/Hotpoint oven....the oven temp sensor removed from oven should measure about 2K ohms and vary when put in ice water and hot water...if it does then problem is control panel circuit board. My oven's board was listed at $300+ so I bought new range ($500+).

Have Maytag MER5755QAW range, the oven will not heat up, the display was working isn't now, i check both elements and temp sensor, all ok

The display control will need to be replaced. It may be cheaper to replace the unit since the control is so expensive. Here is a link to the part you need.
Keep me posted!

Proper Oven Temp

You need to make sure you have voltage coming out of your control board. 120v out of the bake relay. (usually yellow wire) and check wiring in the back of the stove. But first reset the breaker.

My Maytag ceran oven does not bake evenly. Pizza is gooey in the middle - tonight I tried to bake a fergosa - italian bread. Same thing. Gooey in the middle. What's up?

Hello sherainscoug,
Welcome to fixya,

You said, My Maytag ceran oven does not bake evenly. Pizza is gooey in the middle - tonight I tried to bake a fergosa - Italian bread. Same thing. Gooey in the middle. What's up?

What is the complete model number including the number at the end of the model #

Is this a range equipped with speed bake or convection?
This means that if you click the speed bake or convection bake, a small fan starts to blow in the rear of the oven and distribute the air evenly so the goods bake faster.
If so then I'll bet the fan is not spinning!
If not you may have a faulty thermostat that would need to be changed.
I'm waiting for your complete model number!

Display Malfunction

Hello murfraven,
Welcome,

You said, you went to set the timer while baking a pizza and I got a "set or en" on the display of my Maytag Gemini Ceramic Top electric oven.
How old is the range?
And the model number?

Threat it like an error code.
This can reset the system.
Turn the breaker off to cut the power for 5 minutes.
Then restart the breaker and try the range.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

If this does not remedy the problem, then the switch itself is bad.
Let me know how it works out.
