Question about Mtd Garden
After a broom fell off and hit the top of the mower, noticed air filter spilling fuel. Removed it, noticed red tube spilling out fuel. Tried stopping it with finger and priming bulb, no go. If I try to pull-start, fuel will come spilling out again, flooding motor. The primer bulb does not feel like before when priming (but it is not broken). Leaks only for about a minute or so. Carb teardown? maybe something knocked full open? Please help! Thank-you
The float in the bottom of the carburettor is stuck. The primer feel different because the float bowl in the bottom of the carb never seals. Try tapping it gently with the broom handle again, just a sharp tap. If that doesn't work, you need to remove the carb and remove the float bowl on the bottom.

I am sorry to say this, but the compression for that type of engine should be atleast 120 psi. Remove the muffler and look at the cylinder, it is scarred beyond repair.

Your engine model # 128602 Type 0212-E1. Forget about ordering from Sears and paying shipping and waiting a week. Go to your local Briggs and Stratton dealer (most shops are) and buy part # 694395. Should cost about $3.00

SOURCE: I have a Brigs&Straton 6.5 Quantum lawnmower will not stay running. I can keep it running by restricting the amount of air entering the carb with my finger (choking it) The mower will start if it
the problem is in your carb.,at the bottem of the carb. there is a bolt that threads in to the carb.pinch off the fuel line so that no fuel comes out after the fuel bowl is off the mower.now look into the bolt that you took off.there should be a hole oppisit the head of the bolt.there are also two holes that go through the sides.these holes are the fuel intake to the carb, the hole in the center is the fuel nozzle.most likely you have dirt blocking this hole and not letting the motor get enough fuel to run.thake some carb cleaner and spray it in the hole.take an air hose then blow the nozzle out.while you have the screw out take the bowl off and check to see if there is any water or dirt in the bowl.after cleaning.reinstall the bowl and start mower again.should be running ok now.if not let me know and i'll guide you through another fix.let me know if this helped or not................
