Question about Singer 3116 Simple
Try adjusting the top thread tension to see if that helps the bobbin looping problem,, if adjusting the top thread tension doesn't make a difference, then the machine tension knob needs to be checked to see if it needs to be replaced.
also try this,, take some unwaxed dental floss and clean the tension dial with it
also clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint and loose threads

when I've had that problem it was due to incorrect threading of the top thread. Sometimes it "jumps" out of one of the thread guides, particularly the round one with the tension spring. The bottom thread looping & the machine not sewing is my first clue sometimes that it's done that. good luck, Georgia
