It might be due to following issues:
Hardware failure
Bad driver
Corrupt file or volume
System misconfiguration
Virus infection

To load windows you need to login via Safe Mode and try these techniques:
Scan your computer with an antivirus
Apply De-fragmentation on your system
Delete all temporary files

I would test the hard drive - The easiest way to test it is to download the hitachi drive test - It comes as a CD image file which you can make into a bootable CD. You will need a program that can burn image (ISO) files to CD - if you dont have one use CD Burner XP which is free at www.cdburnerxp.se

Run the advanced diagnostics and it will do a thorough scan of the drive.

I would lay odds the drive is failing. If data is important to you i would recommend trying to backup data before doing any more testing.

It should have an error code in there somewhere on the screen where it says it's shutting down.

Type that error code into Google and you'll find an array of answers. There's a bunch of things that can cause the problem you listed, but we don't know which one.

I just got a toshiba satellite pro 4600 it tries to start it nearly loads windows 2000 then turns itself off can you please help as i got it for my daughter for school

Does this happen in eactly the same spot everytime? Do you see a red battery light on the laptop? Have you seen a blue screen flash? Is it actually turning off completely or is it rebooting (shuting down and coming back on)? If it is actually turning off and you don't have a problem with your power supply then it is most likely a motherboard problem. If you are getting a bluescreen it may be either your harddrive or a softwear issue. You can try reloading windows on it.

When reloading windows and you are on the blue

Probably the problem is in the RAM, first open the RAM(s) and clean its both side copper teeth with a pencil eraser and try to setup XP. If not works then replace the RAM(s) and try again. Thanks.

Wont boot on it's on,and then gives blue screen and restarts over

this is a system32 driver issue with windows i believe. i had this same problem when i plugged in a PCI Sata Adapter it screwed a driver all up and windows was stuck rebooting over and over. the only way i could think to fix it was to format the HDD and reinstall windows from scratch

Vertical white lines appear on screen and music will play, beeping and a "chopper" noise have also occured. Replaced motherboard in Dec 08.

To isolate the issue.please connect the notebook to external monitor with the help of VGA port.(Blue PORT) on the notebook.if it good with out any lines.you need to fix the LCD screen of the Notebook.

Dunno what happen??

When You Boot up your screen goes in to the windows xp loading bar and after a quick blue flashin screen pops up and it restarts unfortunately this is what they call the Blue Screen of Death so more than likely you harddrive with the os is corrupted so either you will need to reload the OS or by a new harddrive and load the Os on that Harddrive

Hp laptop froze

Hello,

I understand that notebooks boots into safemode, but when you are trying to reinstall the OS it is freezing, let me assist you in this regard.

As the notebook is frezing while installing the OS, first we need to check the Harddrive.

In DV6000 notebooks, there will be option to do Harddrive selft test.

1 Restart the notebook
2. At HP logo screen keep pressing the F10 key to open BIOS.
3. In the BIOS you can find the Diagnose Tab. (Select it)
4. Under that click on harddrive self test.

If the test pass, you need another set of recovery disks to Restore notebook to factory settings.

If the test fails, then you need to replace the harddrive.

If the notebook is under warranty, then you will get new harddrive from HP.

no its a software problem.....I believe you are using Windows XP. can you tell when it loads or starts to load it stops at the windows loading part only does it go near the boot screen ie; XP loading........like that or straight to blue screen. Ive seen this before its not a hardware its a software. Have you got the installation disk XP if so.....insert it in the CDrom and start the machine up from scratch. Allow windos to go through the rig ma role of installation until it cant go no further. Press "R" for console go to the DOS line and type chkdsk /p allow windows to repair the problem when done remove the disk and start up again.....if Im right it should go pass that nagging "loading windows screen"...I hope it works for you, you'll be elated.
